This morning on Sirius/XM FC's the football show, they were discussing United from an angle that was refreshing to me. They covered the numbers:
1) £325M pounds spent since Sir Red Nose retired
2) Three are only 9 players left from the last PL champion squad in the 2012/13 season - Of those, De Gea, Jones, Rooney, Smalling, Valencia, Carrick, Young, Powell, and Januzaj (out on loan) there aren't a ton of great players. De Gea is gone either in January or early next Summer. Rooney is what he is, Carrick is old. Young, Jones, and Valencia are bit players. Smalling is up/down. Powell never sees the pitch.
Add these together and you really can't even call this the same club as that one. The bulk of the funds have gone out during the timeline of the TT. So this is his squad. If they can't be successful with it after spending as much as they have, then he will have to be considered a failure. The other thing brought up was that there have been a lot of former players for Man U as well as players that played under TT at other stops that have endorsed him. You don't see that unless things are sideways. Last year, you didn't see a lot of players from Jose's publicly stating how great a guy he is and that his tactics are great, etc. They just let the results happen. But if things continue to stay bad, you will start hearing the endorsements. When that happens, you know bad things are going down.
