Once again Sly Sports News devotes the first 10 minutes of their programme to Van Gaal's Weekley press conference.

Later on Mauel get's less than 30 seconds to tell Toure to concentrate on City and the title before a possible move in the Summer.

The Sly Sports News and United partnership is so obvious.
If the reports are to be believed , and Pep does actually arrive at the Etihad, will that be the tipping point where City become bigger box-office than the rags? . I think that may be enough to sway a lot of neutrals to start clicking, especially if the Dutch master continues to weave his magic at the swamp and the two clubs continue on their respective trajectories.
Sky (and all the other reptiles in the meedja) will cosy up to the biggest earner and most high profile - with Pep , that should be us.

Had to refresh my memory. It was Hill who was sent off after Ashley Young's dive, it was Derry.

Here's what the BBC report said:

QPR's Shaun Derry was harshly sent off for fouling Ashley Young, who was offside, before Rooney fired home.

No reference to a blatant act of cheating.
Weren't Fulham denied a stone-wall penalty at the swamp at 0-1 during that run-in?

Yes they were. Clear as day. Stonewall. All day and whatever other descriptions are used.

With all this talk of match fixing in various sports, don't you think the above incidents mentioned regarding the rags and then you look at our non penalties against the toffees which was the two most blatant penalties you will see, you have to ask yourself if there is something sinister going on!! It's almost as if the fa has sent a memo to these refs and told them not to award us a pen, give them fuck all and sent a memo to the refs at utd saying give them a pen at the slightest touch. I've never married the two up but when you compare them....jesus Christ it's as clear as day.

Can you expand on that a bit, I'm not sure what you're getting at?

And Suarez was a bastion of correctness? There were a number of penalties that were dubious IMO and undoubtedly a collective will for them to win the title.

They were awarded twelve penalties that season, five more than anyone else. Thinking back I am not convinced they were all deserved.

At times I remember thinking some were soft. But, that might possibly have been my hatred for them and Saurez clouding my judgement.

The two penalties against Everton that were turned down were...erm... an act of disgusting incompetence - or maybe it was something else.

Suarez was undoubtedly the most preeminent attacking player in the league that year. He was utterly imperious. As such he was always going to get a disproportionate number of penalties. Further, the level he was playing at was such that he didn't 'need' to dive in the area as much as other, more prosaic players.

The number of penalty decisions that were awarded to Young, an otherwise unremarkable attacking player that season, extends beyond the explicable.
