Absolutely right, mate, especially this part about the absence of snidey comments about us from Van Gaal's repertoire. I don't doubt this is against a backdrop of being urged to 'trash talk' us by Ferguson and Charlton, either. Doubtless Mourinho will make up for that when he's appointed, as he simply cannot help himself and certainly won't need any encouragement.

There's a spectrum, mate. At one end are relatively inoffensive individuals earning a quiet living and not dissing us. Cnuts by association alone. He's always been top of my rag shit list as well (with GPC and Crerand), always hated Wilson with a passion, cant stand him, when it was revealed he shagged his sister in law, it just confirmed to the rest of the world, what was already known, so with him being manager, my hatred of him will know no boundaries.

If Hughes can roll over for the turtle then that would be a big help in keeping him at the swamp. But that bloody news conference yesterday was no help to us. Any more shenanigans like that and the swampettes will have no option other than to boot him out - and we just cannot allow that to happen. He's turning the rags into an even more laughing stock than they were under Gollum so it is of the utmost importance that he retains their trust and they keep him.

I know I should be lapping this up with regard to what's going on at old scaffold.

But instead I find the way in which this downmarket rag has responded rather despicable. They've shot their bolt now, so if I was him I'd be making an example of them at the next presser by asking the assembled masses if any of them wanted to apologise yet. If no-one did, then they'd get what they deserved. No comments, no commotion just a polite 'that's enough then'. Perhaps an explanation that this was how things would continue to be until one was forthcoming, but nothing more than the minimum respect due to another human being.
The next one would be the same and the next after that until they got the message. Treat them all as one so they can turn the fingers of blame inwards on those who were at fault.
See how long they can print the same points about the same story (gets a bit boring for readers pretty quickly.)
See how comfortable they feel about having the calm light of decorum repeatedly shone in their direction.
As happened with Angus Dayton, calling them out in such manner may result in them becoming the story they are reporting on, rendering any viewpoints they may offer as completely lacking in journalistic integrity. Sad as this might sound for the paying public, I think they abandoned any notion of this kind of objective noblesse a long time ago, much as I have largely abandoned paying to support them.
If it becomes another nail in the coffin of the free press, then so be it. It doesn't deserve to be represented by such simple-minded bullies.

Isn't that likely to indicate a downward trajectory re: FFP? At least it must be an unsustainable position that ordinarily might call for some kind of remedial action (such as a big fine or some kind of restrictions).
