I remember Wilf McGuiness's team. Made Pee-arse's teams look world class.

I saw that one too.

And Dave Sexton's.

They stayed alive through all that period by picking up occasional cup wins & bullshitting pre season every year, that 'this year is our year' & all the media jumping on the bandwaggon. They were, what Liverpool are now but often less exciting to watch.

Docherty & Fat Ron had them playing a bit of entertaining stuff tbf, but some of the bilge Ferguson served up in his early years, was diabolical.

I didn't have to speak to rags at work today. I simply smiled at them and was met with, "Just don't say anything".

It was fucking hilarious.

I agree, and sadly i think Jose will be able to make them into a difficult team to beat, and return the 'fear' factor they once had. They do have some good players, who are playing way below standard right now. And he'll be able to attract better than what TT or Briggs ever could...

I was also told the other day on pretty good authority that Jose was pretty much a done deal and he will be there next season. I hope not, but doesn't sound good.... I know his stock is low right now, but of what's available, he's not a bad shout for a short term fix....

The hope would be, that he has another breakdown. That would be better than LVG, Moyes, Giggs, anything. He turns up like the Messiah, falls out with everyone & has them in 14th.

I think they'd need at least 6 or 7 first team players coming in to make a solid Mourinho team, they really don't have many at all at the moment. Fellaini and Schneiderlein would probably stay, but the rest of the midfield would go. The shit collection of failed wingers they play at RB would all be fucked off in favour of a solid blocker. Smalling would need a partner as you say, maybe even another CB as well as Rojo and Jones are both wank and unreliable (although maybe Jones would be used as the defensive RB?). Martial would probably be used as a winger, but they'd need another one to play on the other side, as I can't imagine Mourinho wanting Mata or Depay. I don't know, to me it looks like they only have a handful of players he'd actually know what to do with.

The fun bit would be if Mourinho tried to reinvent himself to try and play "the United way", or whatever bollocks they try and sell, as that would be an absolute disaster.

I don't think it would be difficult for a decent manager to make a competitive team out of them, Leicester are top of the Prem after all.

Matching City & Pep though, that's a different story. And if they did bring in Mourinho, nothing is more certain than he will have a meltdown sooner or later, then it's back to square one, but with no kids coming through.

I really think they have done an amazing job to make Utd this shit, but unfortunately I don't think it's that difficult to turn them into top 4. But if they get it wrong...

So they'll be snapped up by the local rag fans down there..................... err. perhaps not!

They've all lost interest in football.

I suspect most of them have taken to watching paint dry, as it is more exciting than the dross the rags are currently serving up.

Your second last paragraph is spot on.
The appointment of Maureen at the swamp would be the final nail in the coffin of there being any pretence that a "utd way" ever existed.
His methods and style are the antithesis of this mythological philosophy ( for want of a better word , ironically) and giving him the job would be seen as a desperate attempt to counter the Pep factor.
We are leading , and they are trailing along behind

Their wheels have well and truly fallen off,and they are now going to be playing catch up for a very long time,in their somewhat cheaper vehicle.

Just seen a highlight on BT Sport's Website, "Did Sergio (Ramos) pull off the Save of the Season?"

Bloody Hell, I can easily think of a better save than that one last night.

BT sucking rag cock or bigging up their Europa League coverage?

Or maybe even both?

Who can ever forget (or care to remember) that magical song:

Shit on O'Farrell, shit on O'Farrell tonight.

Yes folks, don't forget the one and only Frank O'Failure!
