Thank fuck for that, I was getting fed up explaining to rag scum what a hat trick was.

It wasn't just a hat-trick though, was it? It was the finest hat-trick ever executed by a human being since football began. I mean we are talking almost super-human prowess here. Sure, Kun has maybe been lucky enough to get three goals in a game now and again, and I believe Sir Geoff Hurst might have scored one in a World Cup Final, but these are mere footnotes in the annals of history. But, the one scored last night will forever go down as the single most jaw-dropping event since the virgin birth.

The thing is you have to consider who it was against, we talk about rivalries that United have with the dippers and we can never be considered a big game for them. However to do it against Sheffield United who they have been conducting a titanic battle for 5th place over the course of the season, you really have to give big credit to the rags and Tony Whatshisname.

Have they paid the money on that ballon d’or clause in his contract yet?

That is so true, there are hat tricks and there are hat tricks. Some as you have alluded to are just hat tricks where as others are hat tricks.
I still have trouble making Rags understand that it is within the laws of the game that one team can score 5 goals (or more) in one single game. They seem to think that is not possible, never mind allowed, even over 2 legs and certainly not away from home.

Gary Neville on a certain evening in May 2014: “[Liverpool supporters] are going to be thinking the worst thoughts in the world tonight… in terms of when they're going to win the league again… that's what they'll be thinking. No word of a lie. They know that could be many, many years before they get back to a point whereby they're so close…”
Neville was having difficulty in disguising his gloating. Petty of me, I know, but I don't somehow think he envisaged that United's wait would be even longer.

Hang on.

Littlewoods had to wait 30 years for a title. The rags have so far "only" gone seven since their last one.

Or am I missing the point?

You're obviously correct - they haven't remotely 'suffered' enough as yet.

I used these '' as they haven't remotely seen hard times yet - indifferent at best (or worst)........

Neville was assuming that United would be challenging for the title quite quickly, and even winning it. Within a few years. As of between when he made that statement, i.e. spring 2014, and spring 2020, Liverpool are champions, despite the fact that he assumed “it would be many, many years” before they'd even be close. I personally think United are several years off being serious challengers for the title. Next year, despite all the doom mongering today, I can't see beyond us and the dippers (with the proviso that we recruit a couple of good players in the summer, and we don't get these ridiculous season-long injuries, i.e. Kev last season, Aymeric and Leroy this). Nobody in the country outside of Blue Moon thinks we've suddenly become a shit team because we lost to Chelsea and have lost out on the title.
Re. United being plausible title challengers. You never know. Leicester won it, and who saw them coming? Certainly, the media will be bigging them up. As they always do. As they did last summer when the rags beat Chelsea heavily. It sells.
