That's kind of the point though isn't it? He was just pointing out the difference in reporting, they made it seem like City did something wrong or it wasn't classy. Southampton were down to 10 men in the second minute before any goals were scored and then down to 9 men at 7-0. Wasn't 7-0 enough at that point? The goal difference will affect Southampton too, so the "moral" argument doesn't hold any weight for me. In fact, this will damage Southampton more, who have lost 4 on the bounce, so shouldn't it been seen as more "immoral"?
In a cup game it doesn't matter how much you get beat by, all our result meant was the next tie was in the bag which meant we could rest as many as we wanted for the next leg. This on the other hand could utterly destroy Southampton's confidence, other PL clubs(Burton just went back to playing league football) would sense that and before they know they could be in a relegation battle with a crap goal difference.
I can see why he brought it up, the press do my head in too, lets stop giving them free passes because we've come to accept their biased shite.
