BBC morning 'live' text was liberally sprinkled with 'red devils'.
Can't remember us ever refered to as 'Citizens', I think the only other PL nickname I've seen used is 'Gunners', and that was few and far between.

It's not a particular biggie, just another thing to add to the mountain of stuff, which marks United out as treated differently by the press.

It pleases foreign fans especially Americans. Just look at their teams in all sports all have a.nickname as their official name. Rugby went the same way with artificial names trying to make them 'ded 'ard' such as Warriors.
United stole the Red Devils name from Salford RLFC.
