I'd rather they didn't get Pochettino. His stock has fallen on these shores but he'd be decent for United. They've got technically very good players and Pochettino will make them work very hard. PSG are not a side built in Pochettino's image; he's hamstrung by the fact they have the laziest front 3 in history and there's nothing he can do about it. At United it'd only be Ronaldo to worry about and he can work around him.
I'm hopeful they can get Rodgers on board or offer Zidane enough money to change his mind, of the decent options that are available.
Yes it’s only Ronaldo who’s lazy, because Pogba and Fernandes work very hard, especially in defen . . . Oh, wait.
Even if Utd improve with what they have, they’re STILL not as good as Chelsea, as Liverpool or as us. They’re miles behind as an organization. And if they miss out on CL this season, their ability to attract the highest quality players — even if they could somehow fire-sale their old ones — is challenged.
Until they are willing to press the reset button entirely, break it ALL down, and finish 11th or whatever for 2-4 years, and come back with a committed long-term manager and a young, hungry side, they’d STILL need the best three clubs in the land to falter, and for a long enough gap to allow them to reconstruct. AND hope no one else passes them by in the meantime structurally.
And there’s no way in the world the Glazers are going to press that reset button. They can’t afford to. This was a leveraged buyout. An LBO. We can all read about how and why they’re done. Because the owners want to turn this thing around? Turn it into a lean, mean, top tier organization? No. Fucking. Way. They have giant EBITDA margins. They want to suck the cash out of this and finance the future with leverage. Look at the Ronaldo deal! Look at why they did it. Look at the share price after it. Look at the $150m stock sale the Glazers did after the stock popped 20% because of it. Look at how little control they gave up even as they sold. And look at the share price now. Pump and dump is a stupid term used too often by those who don’t understand finance, but that’s what happened.
United is fucked with a corn cob in its tailpipe until the Glazers go away. And even then, whomever the new owners are have to make the right decisions and have the money, the patience and the time.
This isn’t the bottom for them. It isn’t CLOSE.
They. Are. Fucked.
