I don’t completely agree. He wanted to go out on a high, and winning the rags' 20th title was about as high as he could achieve.

If Agüeroooooooooo! hadn’t happened, he would have gone the previous season, IMHO.

I think he also knew that was the clubs last hurrah - he looked around at what he had got - he was well aware of the clubs (lack of ) financial ambition and deffo baled
