Speaking to a united supporter just now.
Looked shell shocked at how bad they were in the 2nd half.
moved discussion onto the future - root and branch, play the kids, don’t care if they lose as long as passion, go with a new manager for years and not worry about Europe, just build some sort of style and philosophy.
this led onto Sancho, ie something to build around. I mentioned yes, good idea, but his wages of 370k would be hard to balance against anyone else…
He couldn’t believe it, shocked, ‘no way’, quick google … ‘oh my god, no’.
Told him to have a quick scroll through - 500k for ronaldo and 350k for varane and then all the others higher than 100k, and jones on 76k…. It was as if full-on reality was finally dawning.
Casually mentioned, ‘whilst you’re there have a look at City…’
‘Oh…’
interesting snippet about MUTV, said they’ve had a new person in this year, and they’ve wiped that dept out, as the staff to viewers ratio was insane compared to social media.
Which indicates that they’ve got at least one person who isn’t living in the past.
Which led onto the fact that Ferguson is still there in the background… wasn’t having that, but I think he’s finally starting to realise that what I’ve been telling him for 5 years (about Ferguson), and 7 years about united (about root and branch, wilderness for an ever longer period without starting)

Never really rated De Gea but have say without him it would’ve been 7/8, apart from that they are a shambles of a team, long May it continue.
