I had it on in the background, but your summary seems spot on. There was no cohesion to their play. Villarreal weren’t that good, they just had patterns of play that they repeatedly used. The rags couldn’t adapt to that and got hammered.I watched this on your recommendation so that I could compare with our youngsters so thank you for giving me a laugh.
What really struck me was the "playing out from the back". Unlike our youngsters who, like the first team, do it with great skill and purpose, their goalie plays it short to a player who passes it back to the keeper who blasts it as far as he can up field, exactly like their first team.
