They have an issue with centre half's. Of course they are all going to be the next big thing (Duncan Edwards etc) but then they bomb and they cant get rid.
Jones is still there and they can't get rid of/give away, Bailly they can't get rid of, Smalling has managed to take himself out of the spotlight and start again in Italy and now Maguire & Lindlehof are the next on the conveyor belt of potentially good players that get out of their depth. I'm sure there must be more, there are certainly 3 or 4 home grown candidates. It's a career graveyard.

But he wasn't, Pep spoke about him in the 'All or nothing' series about how slow he was to turn. He was built up to be the best centreback in England at the time and we didn't buy him

If anyone can be bothered, watch him pass a ball. Anything over a tippy tap and he can’t play it along the ground. It’s either bobbling up n down or launched above waist height. He simply can’t play a 10+ yard pass along the ground, making it easier for the recipient to control it. And then you’ll see him ‘dashing’ towards midfield to cut off a player receiving the ball, the player passes or takes it around him and slabby just stands there, 20 yards out of position and the play/ball behind him. Confidence or not, he has forgot the basics.

Get off - "bullying" TH.
Criticism, analysis and opinion will be long forgotten tools before long.
Probably a generational thing as to how it's viewed - granted.

Nah, it is a form of bullying. I'm even older than Tolm and from a generation who are used to things being far less PC. I think we have gone too far with the whole PC / woke or whatever thing but doing things that I'd class as mean should never be acceptable.

I also hate scapegoating of players - my primary concern is City players of course and I'm happy to have a laugh at the misfortunes of other teams but shit goes too far in the current social media dominated world.

If that was City and we'd just got battered by a bang average team, I would be absolutely fucking livid with one of our players having a laugh and a joke with the ref after the game (Casemiro 5:23 - 5:27). What the actual fuck???

You do know he knows the ref? And told him “can you believe I swapped Real Madrid for this shit show”

I gather you'd blame De Gea for the first goal Tolm, I still saw it more as Maguire's fault.

However.

Between the pair of them, they are trying to play out from the back as instructed by Ten Hag. When City started doing that under Pep, we made numerous mistakes and he continued to back them continued to praise them and gave them the confidence and strength to continue that way until they had it nailed down.

Ten Hag meanwhile, does nothing of the sort, despite neither Maguire or De Gea being a natural fit for playing that way.
Maguire called for the ball is why he’s getting blamed, but how many times a game does a player demand the ball and not receive it ?

It’s on De Gea for me as a ex keeper myself , he’s got the whole pitch in front of him and surely could see the 3 white shirts around Maguire ?

So what? I wouldn't want to be seeing one of our players having a laugh and a joke with anyone after that shitshow. Save it for the tunnel if you have to.

Says to me that he couldn't give a fuck and is there for one last pay day (if we didn't already know that).
