Yeah but think about all those 659m fans of theirs rushing out to buy a Qualcomm.
Qualcomm have revenues for the next couple of years sewn up - Apple have failed to get their own 5G chips sorted, so they have a guaranteed chip per iPhone still. In a few years … probably not. But that’s just one chip in one device, they have plenty more.

…what’s more ‘odd’ is that no-one, literally no-one, other than nerds (stop looking at me) cares a jot about what chips are doing ..’things’, other than maybe Graphics… why would they want to sponsor a football club, there is no crossover. You could, tenuously argue about Sharp, AIG, Chevrolet… but Qualcomm is in the same realms as TeamViewer - ie very niche, and the Venn diagram of ‘football fans’ intersecting with ‘IT fans’ is pretty small.

The athletic think it's going to be snapdragon, who are a subsidiary of Qualcomm.

Funny how they were plastered all over the stadium when Ratcliffe attended. Seems a bit of a coincidence?

I don’t even know what a Qualcomm is but like a sharp microwave*, vodafone, aig, Chevrolet or team viewer I don’t fucking want one!

* I hated sharp before they started sponsoring them cnuts because that dipper twat tarbuck used to advertise for them.
I had a sharp calculator at work that I threw in bin (got in trouble for, as apparently it wasn't mine to get rid of) and have never owned / touched a sharp product since, also cancelled my vodafone account when that one started.

Petty, I know but I'm fine with that.

I kick my wife out of the house once a month ! no red between these four walls

Qualcomm are potentially the rags new shirt sponsor paying them £60 million per year, for reference City receive £67.5 million from Etihad. Another example of their dwindling pull from a commercial side of things?
Christ they must have sold a fair few lawnmowers to be able to offer that much

The target market for shirt sponsors is not the fans of the club. It is tv viewers. Given the reach of the PL, one could say tv viewers worldwide. Secondary market is corporate guests as sponsors can put on lush entertainment packages.
It could be argued that shirt sponsorship is a correct vehicle for consumer brands but not for b to b companies.

Always this, the media cream themselves silly over the Ratface when he does one good thing after 20 odd games. Last time it was that through-ball to Rashford in the league.
It's sad that sports journalism is just making headlines out of fans tweets.
That assist thet are raving about is about 10% as impressive as Cancellos assist in the home game against Dortmund.

Nerd washing?

A marketing professional would tell you why brand recognition is important for b2b. I’m not always convinced but sometimes it could be to attract investment rather than sales.
