All positive reporting on this Wembley of the north and looking handouts to possibly achieve it,could you honestly imagine if this was City we would be getting it from all sections of the media, absolutely no way should they be getting any sort of handouts or support if they want to upgrade or build a new stadium then do it with your own money..

Surely the leveling up fund isnt meant for companies worth billions. I thought it was to help small companies after covid19.

Why do the rags need to cope City ? Their idea is alread being down by City. I dont think the area need two only a couple of miles apart.

City are improving the Etihad North stand, building the UK's biggest indoor music area, British cycling is based around the corner. As are other sports.

The Etihad is better than Wembley already !

City are improving Manchester as rival to any sporting campus in the world.

I dont see why Trafford council would want to compete with Manchester on this. Would the rags be better of touting this idea to other areas like Milton Keynes who might want this new Wembley and not be competing against their bigger neighbour. ?
MK already have a stadium that rivals the quality of the rags’.

“Financing options available to United would have to be explored but one suggestion was the creation of a separate stadium development company that could see the club effectively paying rental to use the stadium over an agreed period until such time it became their own.”

Timeshare
Let’s hope nobody from the rags pisses the owner of that company off, who then sells out to money-grubbing opportunists…

Surprised it's taken them so long to think of the idea...

Immediately upon purchasing the Buccaneers in 1995, new owner Malcolm Glazer declared that twenty-eight year old Tampa Stadium was inadequate to justify the record $192 million he paid for the NFL franchise and began lobbying local government for a replacement.[6] A few months later, the city of Tampa and Hillsborough County unveiled plans for a $168 million stadium that was to be paid for with a rental car surtax along with fees on items relating to stadium events, such as ticket surcharges and parking fees. However, the Glazer family rejected the plan within hours because it would reduce their revenue, and when local and state government officials did not agree on an alternative taxpayer-financed plan quickly enough for their liking, they threatened to move the Buccaneers elsewhere and were soon meeting with officials from several other cities to explore possible relocation sites

All adds up, now you throw Jim into the mix...

Ineos takes over FC Lausanne in 2017... by 2020, the Lausanne tax payer has paid for a 70M euro stadium.

FC Lausanne-Sport planned the construction of the stadium in 2017.[2] Their stadium at the time, Stade Olympique de la Pontaise, was multi-purpose and the club wanted new infrastructure only for football.[1] The stadium was funded by the City of Lausanne.

Worth noting that Jim's OGC Nice plays in a 250M euro stadium built for the Euros.
