I'd like to see the second bid. Presumably Birmingham is being asked for their proposals for a new national stadium if one is required. I'm sure Birmingham, Villa or Wolves are as worthy of such government largesse.
I'd say a 2nd bid from City would be an ideal 'win' for the 'Wembley of the North'.
It's self financed, is best of class facilities, has already regenerated an area and doesn't need a penny of ex-HS2 money, which could be better spent on public transport for the North as a whole.

Surely that's value for money, that a Manchester mayor should get behind, rather than chucking and wasting public money on an american owned set of leeches with a 1bn debt and a crumbling stadium and future.

Sounds like they’re going to knock old toilet down and build new. The question then is where will they play?

One definite answer from our owners should be ‘fuck off you horrible bastards’ if they ask to use our ground.
They’re going to ask definitely. Obvious now why the scruffy twat has been licking khaldoons arse!

Couldn’t they use Wembley like Spuds did? Less of a commute for the fans as well.
