The old ploy of 'Why pay them off when you can piss them off'
Yes. OK for Run of the mill, relatively low paid staff for whom you can find similar or better quality replacements fairly soon at the same orbless cost.

Utter madness when pretty much all of your critical staff (the players) have contracts that guarantee them insane money for just sitting pretty and fucking around, and when the replacements market is both highly aware of your desperation, and the competitive arena highly sensitive to changes in quality because you are at the elite end.

And when there is a huge cliff on the horizon in terms of performance related revenue (i.e. not qualifying for Europe, sponsorship penalties/reduced negotiating power if they want to renew at all, possible releegation).

They should make a film...Carry On jim.

They didn’t actually get him in his prime did they?
I just had to check, he actually spent 8 years at united! (2014-22)

But I agree, he never really felt like an out and out united player, just more like another of their many signings of past it has beens.

I think the most delusional of all them has to be.. "We have a lot of likeable players again don't we"

When have they ever previously had likeable players??

This current set of united players are just as arrogant, entitled, obnoxious and full of their own hype as any previous group of united players, the only difference being the current lot are utter failures.

But I suppose for a typical rag fan, players being entitled, arrogant and obnoxious is actually viewed as a positive trait and something the fans admire and associate with.

The one they have right now that doesn't seem too much of a bellend is Eriksen. I know someone that knows Fatty Shaw a bit and said he seems a decent lad.

Then again, I'm sure there's a few that would be affable enough in real life, but we're still allowed to think they're pricks in the context of footy because its all part of the fun.

Eriksen might no be a typical snide, arrogant mouthy united player on the pitch but it was still pretty shitty of him to dump Brentford when they were the only club prepared to take him on and allow him to resume his career following his heart attack.

He didn't dump them

He fulfilled his contract obligations and then went on a free. Nothing wrong with that.
