It was always a no win situation for them, if Qatar had bought them then they could no longer refer to the "dirty oil money, State owned, hollowed out plastic clubs" etc etc

Now they're stuck with continuing to hide their accounts in the Cayman Islands whilst servicing a billion pound debt by whoring themselves out to official noodle partners and mattress partners.

Anybody with an ounce of sense KNEW that the Yanks didn't want to sell the club outright.
All they EVER wanted was an extra investment of funds whilst keeping ownership/control of the club so they could continue milking the cash cow without investing any (more?) of their own money.

The sheik pulls out and Radcliffe gives them EXACTLY what they wanted all along.
