Interesting. I note that not one of the four options to progress the project included united paying a fair price for the land owned by Freightliner.
There's also no reference on how this pie in the sky project is going to be funded! The Glazers and Scruffy Jim aren't going to put their hands in their pockets. I am concerned that this is Burnham's legacy project and by all means he is going to get government funding for this abomination.

If they are going to remortgage themselves it’s going to be a bare minimum £3 billion extra debt taken on that’s before the interest is added. That’s on top of their current £1.1 billion of debt.

What bank signs off on a loan like that? If you are an investor and were stumping in the cash for the rags how long before you see your money back with their never never methods of paying?

Who is paying for this? Their hidden accounts in the Cayman Islands will do a very good job of hiding who actually is if it ever gets built.

I overheard two rags in the pub on Sunday saying the government was going to make a compulsory purchase order on the land for 40 million.
Does anyone know if there is any truth in this ?

No CPO has been announced and it seems a little early for that as discussions are still ongoing. It’s pretty common knowledge that the whole deal is extremely complicated and involves not just the two parties but how freight is routed around the country so multiple businesses will be affected.

I think like a lot of fans they were probably just discussing the bits they hope will happen without knowing the deeper details.

I have a feeling that if this ever gets off the ground the rags will need a temporary home to allow for the redevelopment. I would be outraged if we offered them the use of the Etihad.

We could take the piss and offer them the Minihad. Although, they should be forced to make do at Pallet Park, Moor Lane or Salford RLFC.

Were their names Jim and Omar?
Their COO was at a function last week saying how the government need to help/pay for the transport to get people in and out of the site - so despite having 3 nearby tram stops they obviously want a railway station and maybe even an underground direct from Piccadilly station for their ...... (fill in what you want :)
