Aside from the lack of competitive matches for the squad, there is the lack of match day income at the swamp.

I know they’d probably (almost certainly) not fill every seat in the swamp, but a sizeable number would still turn up to buy the tat in the superstore and food and drink from the outlets.

It will mean quite a drop in revenue, I reckon.

...so why aim for a top 7/8 finish, to then be distracted the following season? That must be the thinking behind staying in the bottom half - genius thinking!!

Yes a very large chunk of revenue gone.
19 PL, maybe 3 FA (as usual), 3 LC… that’s it.
25 home games
Probably a loss of at least 5-6 euro games.
Over 10% drop - probably more like 15-20% due to the merchandise throughput for away foreign fans and tourists.
Then there’s the European participation money, the European progress money and the European TV money.

It’s going to be an interesting set of accounts for the final round of PL PSR 25/26. Especially in light of their spending, and likely having to take PSR hits on offloading the Bomb squad.

Expect treble allowances all round… to paraphrase Private Eye

Oh c'mon @Vienna_70 , I hope that you are not suggesting that the BBC would present anything disingenuous - simply to appease their highly sensitive and loyal supporters ?

I didn’t read nor contemplate the BBC article.

This lack of income is something I’ve been thinking about for a while. I think I even mentioned in last season’s rags thread.

Weirdly enough I've suggested to a number of rag fans over the past few years, that them getting relegated could be the best thing for them.

At first I was met with incredulity and a lot of laughter.

However, once I explained that getting relegated would immediately take all the pressure off. No more silly talk of finishing in the top four and the media will make it all about character and bravery if they can battle their way back into the premier league.

They're really doing a sales pitch for Hojlund.

Kalpol talking about how he could leave the rags this summer and go onto score a hat full at Napoli.

He went onto to say: "of course they'll be plenty of Manchesniteh fans asking why he couldn't do it for them?"

Strangely enough none of the other two presenters sat with him in the studio replied "because they're shite"

That should be the narrative the media are pushing: "Why is it that every player that leaves Manchesniteh thrive?"

Surely their fans will be more interested in learning about that than being gaslighted into thinking that their new front three are going to change their fortunes?

I agree.

Any good sports conditioning coach will tell you that under-load is just as bad for a professional footballer as overload.

The whole point of training is to get the players match fit and build up their resilience and endurance to play every three days.

The media can try and spin it as much as they want. If you're a player for the rags you need to be playing every three days.

I wouldn't be surprised if they become susceptible to muscle injuries as this season progresses. Playing once a week is a disadvantage because you can only get up to match speed by playing competitive games.

The media won't mention this of course, but they'll know as well as I do, it's not a good look for a club of that size.

I hope they are simply adopting their usual arrogant approach, believing themselves too big to be affected, whilst the problem simmers away and creates serious issues that the cunts aren't able to address.

I heard recently one of their "ambassadors" ie an ex-first team player of international standing, was angry that he hadn't been contacted by the rags to fulfil their normal hospitality role for their home game at the swamp.From a reliable source too. This is in a section where the season ticket prices are over £5,000 per season.

Their finances are obviously having an impact that is hurting them I am very pleased to say.

Couldn't happen to a bigger set of cunts imo, let's hope the problems get much worse.

But don't expect the BBC to be pushing that kind of info !
