I’ve never know a bunch of fans/media who talk positively about losing a game. Without knowing the score you’d think they beat Arsenal 5-0. All I’ve seen is ‘if we/they can play like they did vs Arsenal they’ll be alright’.

I always look at the cashflow statement as that's (for me) a key indicator of how they're really doing. Are they spending more cash than they're generating basically?

They borrowed an additional £230m and Scruffy Jim put in £80m, making financing of £310m. They repaid £100m of borrowing with that, leaving a net £210m inflow from their financing activities. They generated £73m cash from their operations, giving them available cash of £283m. Of that, they paid out nearly £280m on incoming transfers, recouping nearly £50m on outgoing players. This is just cash by the way, not the total transfer fees, so some will be instalments on previous seasons' transfers.

That's a net £230m cash on transfers, with another £45m paid out on Property, Plant & Equipment (like fixing the roof). So £283m in and £275m out, giving them a net increase in cash of £8m.

But without that £310m from financing (borrowing plus share sales) that would have been a significant cash outflow during the year. Scruffy isn't going to be putting in more money so they'll only be able to borrow money this FY, and they definitely won't be reporting record revenues without any European football.
Won't the £280m they spent this summer be amortised over 5 years & will be an extra £55m plus what else they owe in amortised transfer fees this summer

The Turd polishers are being linked with Elliott Anderson and Camavinga today !!!
Will they ever stop. They could be Division two and would still be linked with Mbappe or Yamal.

I've always wondered why he got involved in the first place. He wanted in at the Chavs if I remember correctly and only went to the vermin as an afterthought. So if he's the financial genius they all say he is why invest in a sinking ship like the rags? Of course, there is a lot more to all this than we will probably ever know, but the colossal amount of debt they have accrued over the years -and the fact that despite that debt they are still outspending most other clubs in the Prem- must surely give cause for concern to even he most apathetic football fan?
How much is the freightliner land worth ?

Supposedly supposedly scruffy Jim & the rags offered £40m, & It wouldn't be a suprise if hes after a huge slice of the reported £7bn regeneration money

Lucky we have rich Arabs backing us otherwise The Don would have ended up at Old Toilet:

Manchester United were put off a move to sign Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, 26, before his switch to Manchester City from Paris St-Germain as the total transfer fee and wages package would have been around £130m. (Telegraph - subscription required)

A few people at our gaff work at Old Toilet as medical cover (one is a very senior doctor). They've worked there for years and are all quite senior clinical staff with a lot of medical/nursing experience.

Been told by someone that they've all been laid off and they've got an external company to come in and provide the medical cover now. I'm guessing scruffy Jim has identified another cost saving measure.

I wondered if he maybe thought he could get the club at a knockdown price and build on it. That seems to be his general modus operandus in business. Seems to be a bit of a risk, but we know more than anybody how a club can be turned around with good investment and they have the legacy and fanbase if they can make it work on the pitch, and that's what's helping them to retain their value. They are overvalued given the current circumstances and that can't go on forever, but If that's the plan he'll want things to get worse before they get better so he can get it for as little as possible. But as with anything like this we'll probably never know.

Why are Newcastle/Villa/Everton/Forest putting up with this nonsense, 1.1 BILLION owed and we're portrayed as the cheats!
Absolute charade, wants sorting by this new regulator !
That's what riles me more than anything, AND they've moved their accounting dept. to a nice little tax haven known as the Cayman Islands, which isn't suspicious at all. Just the fact that Ratcliffe is involved at all should be enough to raise flags.

Half a crown does sound better.
I was lucky to have 2 half
Half a crown. (12 1/2p)
It was worth something back then.
when I first started going in the pub the pack horse on the height and getting served in 1968 it was 11 1/2p for bitter and
10 1/2p for a pint of mild.

Only reason I can see is that he believes that a middle Eastern is going to buy the rags, so he's invested to sell his shares at a big profit
Yes that's my take too. They've held on to their value which is false under the current circumstances but is based on their legacy, but that will only last so long especially if they're not competing in Europe, so he's either hoping that someone will come in and give him a big pay day - probably the reason they're after a new stadium which will push up the value of the club without it actually being paid for - or he's hoping the value will start to fall so he can buy out the Glazers at a knockdown price.

One thing is for sure, he's only in it for the money. But it won't be the first time that a billionaire has dropped a major bollock buying a football club.

If nothing else, they are good friends having a laugh and not above taking the piss out of themselves. Good luck to them.
Yes I watch it occasionally and I'll give him one thing, he does genuinely seem pissed off when we beat them rather than putting it on and milking it for the cameras like that Goldbridge prat.
