After a day of blanket Rag coverage I thought it was useful when the nice lady on Sky reminded us all that this is Manchester United we are talking about!

“It is 44 years since the biggest club in English football last fell at the first hurdle of both domestic cup competitions, having been humiliated by League Two Grimsby in the Carabao Cup in August.” Chris Wheeler (fail on Sunday)

Love the humiliated bit but the biggest club in English football? Biggest at what? Biggest club in Trafford, Biggest debt, biggest rats, biggest layoff of staff, biggest failure in transfer dealings, biggest turnover in managers, biggest funding of US businessmen, biggest waterfall I’d happily accept but biggest club in English football. Ha ha ha.
To give that time period some imagery relative to today, it was the year Nokia released the Mobira senator mobile phone.

They've got to be in for Alonso. Surely to fuck there'll be a delegation in black River Island parkas outside his gaff as we speak.
He was dumb to accept the Madrid job with all the egos, he's even dumber if he goes to the swamp and officially kills his career.

For years since the late 80’s the mere thought of playing the rags would fill me with dread. The Derby dates were known off by heart and I was often silently praying not to get gubbed and embarrassed. That’s why those rare wins in those years when they were winning everything were bloody brilliant, and kept me awake with giddiness for days afterwards.
Now though? Jeezis, I want to bury and humiliate them when we play but I don’t get myself worked up as much as I did even though I detest them no more or no less than I did.
Derby day is only enjoyable if you win. Too much tension until then.
I wonder how many of those that went to the swamp in April 1974 would have - beforehand - taken the events that unfolded on that wonderful afternoon in exchange for City not winning there until 2008.

Likewise, I wonder how many of those present at the Maine Road Massacre in September 1989 would have, if asked, been happy to see that result, knowing we wouldn’t beat the rags again, until the last Maine Road derby in 2003.

A fair number at each, I reckon.

I was there in 74, as a 14 year old, in the Scoreboard paddock with my dad. All out war in there. We were always beating them then too.
I was working in Italy in 89 and watched it live on tv in a bar just outside Milan and couldn’t believe what I was watching. The locals fully understood me going mental and bought me drinks all night.
These days were a long time coming, and it has been well worth the wait now

Cunts. Absolute bunch of fucking small time cunts. Stunned they never got called out on it. In fact all those cunts who feel sorry for that **** Ferguson due to his age just remember that in his pomp when he was winning trophy after trophy, he was happy for this shite to be displayed at the swamp. He was an absolute fucking **** who condoned this. Fuck the ****
Yeh, he was a bit of a ****…thinking about it.
