Fucked.

£50mill down on match-day revenue.

Possibly going on an ethical and human rights mid-season friendly to Saudi.

But United can play a maximum of only 20 home matches this time which, based solely on last season’s figures, would mean match-day revenues of £106.8m – or a £53.5m drop on the previous 12 months.

It emerged in October that United were exploring options around a mid-season friendly, including a possible trip to Saudi Arabia, and those plans may harden now they are due to have even more free midweeks.

This is quite worrying.

What if all of their billion loyal supporters attended this friendly and all pay a tenner each?

That’s all the debt wiped out, new circus tent/stadium built, transfer kitty for the interim one, a good butty for UMS & Scruffy Jim and still change for a chippy tea for Luke Shaw.

I’m back off to Chelsea.

The authority of managers is being steadily eroded because of the way modern clubs are structured, former England boss Sir Gareth Southgate says.

The increase in football, technical and sporting directors has led to a shift in power, although Southgate says he has "no issue with this evolution".

Said the same myself when I saw it.

Hutchinson looks sublime, some nice touches from Dave Bennett sporting a belting afro.. raw Power and pace of an 80s Derby from Maine Road.

Bobby Mac should have scored early on
Dennis tueart is sub warming up
Gerry Gow looks menacing.....but from the footage shown..it's all about the class of one Tommy Hutch.one of my fav players of all time. Loved this team .

Worrying that if other teams notice that utd are profiting from being ditched out of the FA cup, then more may try it.
Two games in Saudi would lead to more revenue than Macclesfield away and Stoke City away fixtures for example in the next two rounds of the FA cup.

That's the problem too many sirs.. overseeing..too many goals conceded...30 goals flew by their new brilliant keeper before Xmas...........just have a think about that .....spent 230 Million during the summer but didn't get the back 5 right
When you take over any rubbish squad you build from the back
They brought 2 work a day strikers.....clueless management.

That’s exactly what Bobby Manc did, when he arrived at Etihad.

It was immediately apparent that he had been working on tightening up the defence, and it consequently led to us conceding less goals.

To paraphrase the Septics: attack wins games; defence wins titles.

Can't stand Morgan personally but caps off to him, he's nailed this.

I don't really get this sentiment. Big =/= successful right this second. There's still plenty of metrics by which United can call themselves one of the world biggest clubs.

Number of trophies won, stadium size/attendances, revenue, transfer spending, global fanbase.

Them being so shit for so long is enjoyable precisely because they're one of the biggest clubs in the world.

If they weren't one of the biggest clubs in the world, and judged by that standard, they wouldn't even be doing badly. It's because they're one of the biggest clubs that watching them fail over and over and over again is fun. Otherwise they'd just be Birmingham City.

Apologies if question been asked but how can they take friendlies mid season to generate income? Would that not be against the PSR regulations ? Clubs that are struggling could just get an investor to organise a match to generate huge sums so how can it be legal and why has no one else ever done it ?
