I thinkk NH was incorporated into Manchester c.1890 ish...Newton Heath as a FC was there before that, not sure when they moved out...it may be assumed that they moved out to avoid being within the City of Manchester...
They moved out as the bloke who bought them built them a ground in Trafford and changed the name of them and the kit colours too.
Sugar Daddy FC... not that they would ever admit it.
Mind you he was only their 1st Sugar Daddy..they got another one years later to save them from going bust.

I'm not 100% sure but didn't someone on here say that Newton Heath was actually in Lancashire when the rags played there and wasn't part of Manchester till years after the scummy fuckers moved to the swamp.
Newton Heath became part of the City of Manchester in 1890 mate, so they were a Manchester club 1902 (when Utd really formed) to 1910.

So 7/8 years in total.

Like I say I wasn't sure.. I was just saying what I read in here ages ago.
Anyway the rag cunts haven't been a Manchester club for over a century.. So fuck em lol.

Reddish is north of the Mersey and west of The Tame.
Anything south of the Mersey and / or east of the Tame was Cheshire.

Anyway, the commentator here (from 1934) knows exactly what county Manchester was in.

When I joined up, Reddish was in the recruiting area for the Cheshire Regiment though growing up in 1970’s North Reddish didn’t feel much like leafy Cheshire!

Agreed. In 2010 I sent all my Rag mates a text just saying “100 years”.

None of them understood what I meant until I explained and then I just got messages back saying “sad ****”.

They’re not wrong to be fair but neither was I.

I disagree. In the12th century some rich nobleman and the king carved up the country and yes, then the Earl of Lancaster owned Liverpool and Manchester but then they were just minor areas for a rich nobleman to control.
Come the industrial revolution, Salford, Manchester and Liverpool were city's in their own right.

Manchester became a City in 1853 totally independent of Lancashire.

Anyway, the point was, at no point in their entire history were Lancashire Yoonitid ever part of Manchester
Complete and utter bollocks

So you are mixing governance up with a geographical and ceremonial county region
  • 1889: When county councils were formed, Manchester was large enough to become a self-governing county borough, independent of the new Lancashire County Council.
  • Geographical vs. Administrative: While independent of the council, the city remained part of the traditional/ceremonial county of Lancashire until 1974.
  • 1974: The Local Government Act 1972 separated Manchester from Lancashire, placing it into the new Greater Manchester administrative county.
Therefore, although historically connected to the county palatine of Lancashire, Manchester's local government has been independent of the Lancashire County Council since the late 19th century.

Liverpool same as above

  • Manchester City Police (1842–1968): Established as the Manchester Borough Police in 1842 following the Manchester Police Act 1839, it later became the Manchester City Police.
  • Merger (1968–1974): In 1968, the force merged with the Salford City Police to form the Manchester and Salford Police.
  • Greater Manchester Police (1974–Present): On April 1, 1974, the Manchester and Salford Police was amalgamated with parts of the Lancashire Constabulary and Cheshire Constabulary to form the Greater Manchester Police (GMP), which covers the area today.
  • Headquarters: The Manchester City Police historically had a headquarters on Bootle Street.
Salford City Police headquarters was on the Crescent.
As an aside Salford only became a City in 1926 before that it was a County Borough. Also the county Borough only came into being when they merged three townships in the mid 1800's , the original townships of Salford along with the townships of Pendleton and Broughton, each one had their own Town Hall.
On the subject of the Rags they only became popular in Salford once they moved to the Swamp, before that is was a rugby league City with Salford playing at Weaste and Broughton Rangers at the Cliff.

Top four looks increasingly likely given Villa and Chelsea's recent form.
Still they won't have played for two weeks prior to Everton game, maybe a little 'ring rusty' on Monday?

Same could be said for Everton, they haven't played since the 10th Feb, the same night as when the Rags played West Ham.

Hopefully Everton do the twats.
