I had a very unpleasant experience today which had my 6 year old in tears. Bloke comes down the row and sits next to me and obviously a Season Ticket holder. Sat down like the big 'I am' and I knew immediately it would become a problem. From the off a tirade of swearing of every type you can imagine - bawling with it (bawling is fine with me and swearing if measured).
Kept my peace until the second Watford goal goes in and he off again - I can swear with the best in the appropriate circumstances and places but an totally aware of where I am and if I know I will offend people eg I will not use profanity on the bus or in front of kids OAPs etc but if in my house with a mate or friend fine.
I politely asked him to tone it down as there was my son with me who was in tears - he dismissed me and carried on regardless - I said OK will have to call a steward as not on. To be fair the steward came and made a note of his seat number. He apologised to the steward not me but then carried on as normal as well as the sarcastic sayings of 'good show' etc etc taking the Michael.
My son's 2nd visit to The Etihad ruined for 45 mins anyway - I told him just to ignore him later - my elderley parents were with me too.
Couldnt get tickets in The Family Stand so had to settle for anywhere.
Still does not excuse the ignorant behaviour of such fans as these.
Thanks to the steward and fans behind me who backed me up.
I will be writing to the club although what good that will do I dont know.
Took the shine off the day.
