Unpleasant experience in Colin Bell Level 3 today

I bet the kid is having nightmares tonight reminiscing about a group of fans not giving a fuck because they're all pissed up.

If the kid was crying surely it must have been more than swearing? If it was just the swearing what's the reaction to a number of the songs sung at the match?

Alternatively, you can not be a bellend who has no thought for other people around them and the kids that they have?

Just an idea

i dont condone swearing , it happens in the heat of the moment , quite ironic your moral high ground does not include the content of your retort.

Maybe you should try to read the thread and what actually happened then? The guy was repeatedly asked to stop by numerous people and stewards eventually upsetting the guy's kids.

You think that's ok?

I missed the part where the guy was told numerous times by numerous people !. From what iv read, it was only op that asked him to tone it down before gettin a steward involved .

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED ,if you read the initial post there is no reference to NUMEROUS PEOPLE , do not try and infer that there were many people offended , this is untrue .My grandkids come to the match with me , and i have no intention of shielding them from the real world of football support , swearing happens , but if someone was continually abusing and swearing for no apparent reason , i would consider that , unacceptable , and it would be dealt with . But to got to any footbnall match , with a child ,and expect not to hear swearing , is unrealistic.

apologies , next time i want to swear i will survey the immediate area for juveniles and when confirmed the distance is acceptable , i will then shout a well thought out profanity , or maybe we can play all our next home game on fantasy island , we could wear flip flops and greenpeace apparel.

So you think it appropriate that people moderate their vocal support of the team to take account of the potential sensitivities of people in their immediate vicinity?

You don't go to actual football matches very often, do you?

At the end of the day we all have different levels of what is acceptable. There are no guidelines to what is acceptable so what you're supposed to do is try and be aware of where you are and who is around you. It really isn't that difficult.

If you're swearing like the best of 'em and nobody is bothered, fine, there's nowt wrong with that. I guarantee 100% that most others around you are doing the same in that area. If your in a different area, where those around you aren't doing that, and a kid is crying just because of you, it's a bit cnutish not to try and tone it down a bit, or at least apologise. Some people are just attention seeking cnuts by nature - they don't need anyone else defending them.

I absolutely believe that people should consider those around them in these situations, especially those involving kids who aren't their own. "Not being a ****" isn't a preference that's somehow restricted when you enter a specific stadium.

And I've never been to a football match in my life apart from those couple of thousand since the late 80s.

The total environment of a football match allows for swearing. That is the context people enter when they walk through the door. Cup games always bring day trippers, but the onus is on them to adapt, not for the context to change.

I'm with the majority who are saying that swearing is a part of being in a football ground, and if you don't like it tough (with the exception of specific family areas).

Unfortunately the ground regulations say this:

The use of threatening behaviour, foul or abusive language is strictly forbidden and will result in arrest and/or ejection from the Ground.

I'd like everybody to have a bit of nouse about the in regards to their surroundings but I grew up in Malaysia and only listen to Yuan Riceman on the local radio so we count discount this.

How many would be left if they followed that through?

Section 5 of the Public Order Act covers the use of threatening , abusive , or insulting words or behaviour causing harassment , alarm or distress in a public place .
