He's clearly an imbecile with no respect and no idea how to behave around children.

You did the right thing telling him to turn it in and reporting him to a steward.

Ring City and ask them if any action has / will be taken and go from there.

Thanks Stoned Rose - I will put it in writing - I am sure it happens a lot but I did expect an 'oh sorry mate I didnt realise etc' - I wouldnt have bothered if my son wasnt there to be honest but sometimes you have to stand up to people or cower.

All I would say is it is to be expected, I swear all the time when I'm at the game sat 122. If you can't get family stand tickets prep your kid before going in, but I don't know the extent of the language. One other side of it is that he should try and region it in if he has been told.
If someone said to me your language is upsetting my child I would say something like, I'll I try not to swear as often however if Garcia comes on the pitch be prepared lol

Totally agree with you to be fair - I dont expect clean cut 'bad luck sir' comments and I fully expect swearing but he was over the top and showed no apology even though he could clearly see an upset kid virtually next to him

How many games has the little man been to? Is it possible it wasn't the atmosphere as well?

I'm one of the worst offenders of this, I swear like mad, its just a way of dealing with being a city fan
having said that and having read the op I will endeavour to tone it right down from now on.
It really isn't easy. The bloke next to me has been bringing his little lad for 18 months now and as hard as I try, I still find myself swearing way too often. I find myself apologising contantly during the match.

Just spat my brew out!

I think we should all refrain from swearing at the match, perhaps then instead of the usual tirade behind me I'd hear this instead "for intercourse's sake Dzeko, run you freaking female genitals!!"
if the OP had murdered the offensive fan, things would have been even more unseemly

I think the point more is, if there was a small child next to you who was in tears thanks to your aggressive swearing and the childs dad asked you to at least try to tone it down, most people would (I hope) apologise and at least attempt to control themselves a bit.
