Unpopular opinions

Ah yeah. Joe is a professor of English in Yale. He's a literary critic specialising in modernism, empire and world literature. I was at a book launch of his last summer where I was taken aback at the level of worship he enjoys in the academic world. Regrettably he's a dipper, a source of constant needle between us. I'm meeting him next week; I'll pass on your obs re FINY - being a committed Marxist he enjoys far more the reaction of the general public to works of art to the intellegentsia.
You can tell him from me that it's s work of fucking genius.

Weddings are utterly pointless in modern day society and for women are just a competition on who can put on a do better.

The engagement ring
The party to celebrate the engagement
The save the date cards
The invitations
The venue
The transport
The dress
The suits
The flowers
The decorations
The ceremony
The wedding ring
The DJ
The band
The first dance song
The meals
The entertainment whilst eating the meals
The speeches
The food at the nighttime
The staying over in rooms at the venue
The honeymoon
The presents

All that thousands of £ in money for the majority of couples to either be miserable or divorced 5 years later.

Mariah Carey is fit as fuck

Allison is a considerably better keeper than Ederson.

Marvin Hagler actually did deserve the decision over Sugar Ray Leonard.

Assisted suicide should be legal.

Leaving a massive shit - swimming in golden piss - in trap number one at work for somebody else to flush is absolutely fine, apparently.

The Royal family are a bunch of over privileged and very expensive snobs who uphold the class system and 100% entitlement in the United Kingdom. And hoards of working class people are brainwashed and daft enough to wave their little flags and support the aristocracy to their own detriment.

Only 25% of the country are working class. The hoards are the non working classes these days.

Great write up...

"And when our home-grown neoliberals summon up the sorry ghost of the 1980s to remind us we have never had it so good, MacColl's and MacGowan's duet can be a reminder that not all back then was misery and despair; there was also resilience and resistance."
