Unpopular opinions

They wouldn’t. The gap between the 4th tier and Sunday league is a professional chasm. They’d get mullered. Every single week.

I’m not talking about now. I’m talking about the 70s and 80s. A lot of the players I’m talking about who were playing in the Wythenshawe League on a Sunday were turning out for the likes of Altrincham, Chorley and Macclesfield on a Saturday. Maybe the 4th division is a slight exaggeration. But not by much. There were ex pros turning out regularly aswell who’d played at the very highest level, including internationally just a few years earlier.

Wythenshawe Sunday League had more to do with hairy toothless fuckers trying to maim each other than football, great entertainment mind and your bro must have had some character to ref in that league. Surprised they’re still playing at Painswick, it used to pretty much all pub teams, pubs which now no longer exist.
Yes, he loved his refereeing days and there were plenty of characters alright.

There were at most tops, half a dozen what you describe as elite teams, top of my head, The Crown, a couple of pubs in Altrincham who played in the Wythenshawe league always put up a good fight, was another the Gardeners? I can’t remember off the top of my head but out of the four divisions, there weren’t that many who produced good football, but the few that did, did.
I went to see my brother referee a final at Maine Road and Moss Lane. He was very well respected as a local referee.

I will almost certainly have known your brother. My commiserations by the way. I’m not claiming the Wythenshawe League was made up of 50 teams who all resembled Brazil 1970. Just making the point that the top teams were a long way from cloggers just turning out trying to maim each other as the other guy claimed.

You probably did know Phil, everyone seem to;)

My mistake, thought you meant now. The gap between 5th and 4th tier has reduced, most 5th tier teams are now fully pro.
Lad I used to work with played at very good non-pro level (Curzon Ashton, Droylsden) and he was mustard. Makes you realise just how good the top tier lads are.

Sadly he does. A legally held referendum decided what would happen to the British political system and yet people use language like that. It is why we are a broken country. We were a broken country before the vote, it simply means we were not going to fix it in my generation, if ever.
Wrong, it was an advisory referendum with no legal basis, it was only when May sold out to the ERG cunts, and Corbyn was always a Brexiter that they got it through Parliament.

I’ve said this for years - way before Brexit - but stupid people shouldn’t be allowed to vote. People should have to sit a basic intelligence and knowledge exam.
I’ve said the same for years.

You have to pass tests to do so many things in life, and that should include getting the right to vote.

I want idiots who have no fucking idea what they’re voting for, who don’t even have basic knowledge of politics, to have a vote, as much as I want someone without a Driving Licence driving school buses.

“democracy is a wonderful thing, Manchester population 60,000. Electoral Roll 3”

Every adult in the country could pass this test, many of them just need to research politics for the first time in their lives. It would make voters more clued up and would probably mean the Conservatives wouldn’t have won any of the last four GEs and the Britain EU Referendum would have been a Remain vote.

Completely agree, that would probably take the Electoral Roll up to 4.

Off the top of my head Frankie Carrodus, Ron Healey and Alan Jones played for a couple of the top teams back in the day when I played, there were quite a few others too, some cracking players back then.

I don’t agree with testing people in order to vote, everyone deserves to have this hard fought for freedom in how the country is run.
If social media is your problem then curb social media, but whose criteria would you use to frame the questions. No sorry if the country voted to leave the EU so be it.

I would also ban Politicians from lying “red buses” etc and education of the people plus new rules to stop certain newspapers from printing untruths such as Harry and Megan “Opinion pieces” I want facts and truths in the media.

if we had a test to vote only business people and Tory voters would vote. Does no one remember Northern Ireland where only business people could vote.

Voting should be compulsory and a non of the above box added and if that is the majority new candidates should be mandatory and a fresh vote undertaken

Sitting an exam to be allowed a vote.......that's a novel idea, I'm sure it would run very smoothly and cause no friction or demonstrations. I mean it's not like you're disenfranchising people is it.

Maybe hormonal pregnant women or at the "time of the month" should be omitted as well

Question;
Being as the Scots voted remain, according to remainder logic, they are more intelligent than the English?
