All I am seing is a completly stagnant market. Clubs seem terrified by the moves Real and City are making and the implications for transfer fees and wages.

A wait and see approach and what we have we hold in regards to the best players seems to be the order of the day.

I mean there is virtually no activity at all with premier league sides at the moment. That will change in time it always does, I am still surprised by the complete lack of activity going on at the moment with the Rags, Villa, Spurs, Chelsea, Sunderland and obviously us all meant to be heavily active this window.

Fuck all going on at the moment !

We are going to be much stronger than the end of last season squad and first team wise. And be in a much better position starting the season as a consequence. Plus Hughes is properly bedded in full pre season with most of the squad,

Thats all that matters really. Also its a massive benefit not having to take part in the Europa 2 bob league IMO.

As we found out last season complete waste of time Its champions league or nothing as far as I am concerned in europe. The Europa league is the carling cup of Europe..

18 matches last season and we only played a couple of big decent sides. Completely burned out our players. Very glad we can be focused on the league and domestic cups this season....

Economics play a big part, why pay a players wages for pre season when the other club can be paying them

Re: Transfer talk on radio 5 live

i dont want to sign anyone until the last day of the transfer window...now thats entertainment lol

Re: Transfer talk on radio 5 live

I dont really want Terry. But how good would it be to be a fly on the wall in Gary Cooks office when Hughes is asked to pop in to discuss his transfer targets.

I have a sneaky suspicion the club are using certain bids for players to create a smokescreen in the press, so they can get on with persuing the players Hughes really wants.

Barry Silkman (major tw4t.5), was also of the opinion that City needed someone to unlock a defence.......until the Sun's Manchester based writer reminded him of the club's player of the season (who he'd seen 40 or so times that season) and was of the opinion that with him, Robinho and Elano City already had that option in spades. Silkman maintained he didn't think Ireland was the part. Silkman is a f*ckwit of a 'stratospheric' order.

I was screaming at my radio when he said that "WHAT DO YOU CALL STEVIE IRELAND KNOBHEAD

im still seething now - what an idiot he said "city are only buying strikers" wrong - "they dont have anyone creative in midfield who can unlock a defence" wrong GRRRRRR

why do radio shows invite "experts" who clearly havent got a clue - I cant think of any player id rather see behind the strikers more than superman - then there is the squad depth of elano

Ireland is not a knobhead, too much abuse on here

Just fell off my chair laughing at that one - brilliant!

...tin hat on.

I think that we will sign all of the main players we are linked with. Tevez, Eto'o, Terry & Lescott all on the same day and it is just Eto'o that is holding up the proceedings trying to get his "golden handshake" from Barca.

What do you guys thinks?

im thinking along these lines too!
i think we have at least 2 already tied up,still working on a couple and i think terry will be the last one
then 1 big day of announcement before they head to south africa

heres hoping anyway!!

I was thinking "why are we making fools of ourselves going for these players whos clubs/or the players themselves don't want to come to us?"

But I'm starting to think like you, We may just be doing things like this BECAUSE WE CAN, just to show the "Establishment clubs" that we'll do what WE want, not what they want.

I have my worries that Mr Cook is a bit too "American" in his dealings, but our owners are no fools.
They know business and don't do things for the approval of others.
I LOVE IT !!!

Now you're getting it. Bully the bullies...quickest way to the top. It's only just started.

Re: Transfer talk on radio 5 live

I dont think we are being bullies for the sake of it, i actually think the club have been given big indicators that terry might be interested and are following that up with big bids that will convince terry that we want him. I dont think we are deliberatly trying to piss off chelsea, not that i would mind, we are just trying hard to acquire a player that would help us achieve our end goal. WORLD DOMINATION.

Are you speaking to the everton fans that stalk this place?

Not a bad idea...we get Lescott and Arteta and they can keep the change (about 15p)

What if???...

Guys it's quiet.

A little too quiet.

So I'm thinking..what if this is all part of a bigger plan?

A plan to lure John Terry from Chelski?

Tomorrow sees Terry back in England and back at Chelsea...what if we deliberately held Tevez,Etoo and Lecott until tomorrow so all Terry hears is "City just signed Etoo!" and "Lescott's just joined em too!" etc....if he's on the fence right now, wouldnt it make sense to get him caught up in the excitement, rather than announcing all these last week while he was out of the loop?

Just my 2 cents on it but it could be possible!
