Incidentally, all Samsung J and M models phones aren't waterproof, and most of the A models aren't either. Not sure about other manufacturers. Being modern doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be waterproof.

nowadays they turn themselves off to protect the circuits , best thing to do is keep it switched off and cover it in rice and leave it for a day, ive dropped mine into a lake with no problems afterwards.

I knocked a pint of water over my laptop keyboard and left it in the airing cupboard overnight and it worked no problem

Came back from garden centre last year (had to get a few new potato grow bags). Realised I’d lost phone, contacted garden centre and searched the car. Kept ringing it but phone was straight to answer phone, i Knew it was low on battery before I’d left the house.
Anyway get new phone all’s good.
3 months later as I’m emptying the grow bags and harvesting a lovely crop of Pembrokeshire New Potatoes, there it was, my old lost phone looking very dirty but no sign of any damage. Took it into house cleaned it up put it on charge and it fired up straight away.

Son came back from school trip to the USA. I always check pockets before washing but never thought to check that large open both ends-tunnel hand-warming pocket thing on the front of his hoodie...the perfect place for a teenager to keep their passport apparently..... Destroyed!

Any modern mobile phone would comfortably survive a trip in the washing machine I’d imagine. They’re all at least IPX7 water resistant. You can throw a phone in the bath and it’ll be just fine.

I’ve accidentally put my AirPods through the washing machine at least twice when I forgot they were in my trousers.

I’ve killed a MacBook Pro by knocking coffee on it though.
