i think you have to look further ahead, if you are on platinum and you then go gold in time the new platinum fans will overtake you, well in the coming decade that will eventually cost you regarding tickets for the obvious big games coming our way. i have quite a few points and look ok but sooner or later people will catch up and indeed eclipse my points. sorry for the sake of 50 brick it'll be platinum again for me. wife and kid are in the same boat.

That's OK for people like you, who I imagine are pretty much at the head of the queue anyway. Totally understandable that you want to stay there, however for people like me who are somewhere in the middle, I would never catch the top, so the bigger games would be out anyway, so for me totally pointless paying extra to stay where I am, a few newer fans might overtake me, but it doesn't make much difference overall. The way the club plays on the fear of people catching them up or getting further ahead in points is a bit of cunts trick for me, attending the same games regardless of paying an extra £50 is no more loyal than the next person.

no, you must keep adding to your points, for a a start people my age will eventually give up due to retirement, migration or illness, then there are people right now doing all that who wont renew this year. if they are older than me you can guess they will have plenty of points so as they leave the band underneath them all move up a bit.
when i first got season tickets points were unheard of but as they are so important you may aswel get what you can, for 50 quid its worth it rather than pay some tout a grand or wahtever.
I thought you were getting platinum for you and just gold for the wife and offspring?

how old are you?

This is what I have done and my reasoning.

I was Platinum last year..Only aways I went to were Wigan and managed to snare a derby ticket on here from a blue who couldn't go...So my loyalty points didn't really come into the equation.
I have been on a 5 yr secondment with work and have not missed a league home game as a result of this apart from holidays or illness. My loyalty points yesterday were at 5760 and having renewed last night on platinum plus all 3 cup schemes I earned another 980pts. So now I am up at the 6740 pts mark..Not enough for a derby ticket but I would hope enough for any aways that I may be tempted to go to. The thing that sold platinum for me this year was the ticket exchange as I will be going back on shifts shortly so if my old dear cannot take it off me I will sell on there.
The loyalty points albeit are important for people who are lucky enough to go to away games with no kids or commitments are not for me but I cannot afford to let them drop as eventually my kids will grow up and I will have more time on my hands. I also think that a small percentage of Platinums , golds with more points will not renew due to financial hardships which pushes me up the ladder of potential away tickets etc.

It's a fine line...£50 for platinum is not huge however I could get that back easily if I don't get to 2 homes which I could sell.
Cup schemes are a no brainer...What are the chances of being drawn at home in the league cup and FA cup every round...last years 400pts for the rags at home in the fa cup and brum and liverpool at home in the league cup...they really are just free points for anyone and the champions league is an extra 3 games at home equating to approx £100?

Tough times for all I agree and I feel for anyone who is struggling to find the money.

On a final pointer my lad is gold , no cup schemes at all . He only has 2450 pts now as an 11 yr old so plenty of years for him.
