Upper GI Endoscopy

I'm up for one of these fairly soon as I've been struggling with my guts for a few months. GP got me referred privately as he wants me looked at PDQ. THe whole thing looks a bit unpleasant, to be honest.

Anyone been through one of these?

have it done under sedation
the fucking camera is the size of a 70s polaroid!

I had one done in April, its not painful - just uncomfortable. its quite unpleasant but its over very quick.

Worst bit was not being able to eat beforehand....

had one last year...just make sure the sedation takes effect before they start inserting camera down throat.....thats all i will say about tameside ;(

my mum had one, to check for an ulcer.

i'd recommened sedation, unless you can control your gag reflex.

Pretty uncomfortable but not particularly bad! Would definately recommend sedation, would be hard otherwise

Wow, that was unpleasant.

Believe me, I can think of far better ways to spend half an hour alone with four women in hospital uniforms and fantastic drugs.
