Upson first window signing

what we need is a hugely dominant in the air centre half (and then lescott could be switched to left back).

Does upson fall into this category...I have to admit Ive not seen enough of him ????

Injury prone, didn't cut it at Arsenal, not an established top 4 player and no champions league experience (possibly a few appearances for Arsenal at most) I know we've got injuries at the moment but we really should be setting the bar higher than Upson. If he signed he'd get a few games before fading to be a squad player when everyone returns to fitness....not what we need...But, if we get him hopefully he'll be immense, he is English and with this being a world cup year he'll be desperate to impress so hopefully it would turn out ok, but he wouldn't be first choice, for me anyway.

Bellamy = injury prone
Bellemy = didn't cut it at Liverpool
Did you say when he signed we should be setting the bar higher?l

Well hes a better player than shitbul I mean kabul. I wouldnt be too worried with it if hes for squad cover. Would do a much better job in there with Lescott than Toure IMO. If hes available cheapish, £8 million is cheap for us I would say OK.

We need someone who can slot in straight away, he is experienced and english...

Couldn't you work out from the sign in name that I might quite like Bellamy....

Joking aside I probably did make similar statements to the ones you point out about Bellamy and maybe Upson would be a good signing. With Bellamy we've got the benefit of hindsight to see that he was a great signing, hopefully if we get Upson then we'll be able to say he was a success as well, if someone's good for City I'm only too happy to be proved wrong.

I would be very underwhelmed by this signing but it is probably one that can be quickly concluded in readiness for him to step right in at left centre back and put pressure on Lescott when he returns, like he does with England for the fringe spot. He's average for me.
This^^^^^ I really hoped that this Upson talk would die with Hughes.

First time ITK post but I had a text from a reliable source - Upson will be the first signing of the Jan window. Apparently the deal is almost concluded!
Not quite yet, I think someone's jumped a gun there. Gun is ready to be fired, mind if the man in charge agrees.

He's only been in a job a matter of days, folks...

Mathew Upson would fit our in well both as a player and a person . He would bring out the best in Jolen Lescott as he is tops in motivation with other players.The sooner we get rid of TOURE who is never a captain the sooner we stop leaking bad goals no wonder Wenger rubbed his hands in glee for taking two miss hits off his hands.
