Re:
Sweet.
So on the rare visits to the Etihad, I get a taxi because the Metrolink is...shit. I'm sorry but i'm not up on what tram stops are open/closed for crowd control.
Went to Velopark as a tram was arriving, it arrived and carried on with passengers trying to get off. Rang Customer Information and they said it's part of crowd control, and another tram would be there in 5 mins. That one wouldn't stop at that station.
Then an announcement comes on saying "No more trams from this stop tonight". I radioed customer services againto ask why and they asked where the Metrolink staff were, I said there was none. They wondered why because there should be. They said I should go to Etihad Campus stop. The display is saying 3 minutes and I need to get that tram to make my train.
So I had to run from Veolpark to Etihad, then run, then eventually vault over the barriers to squeeze into a tram without about 6 seconds to spare.
Is this really how 2014 Britain conducts it's urban transport? They can pay for 4 staff per station when they have maintenance on a Sunday, but for an hour on a matchday they won't pay for staff to be at one staton to man that and explain the situation and options? Worst bit is, you get to Etihad Campus and there's about 20 staff. 1 of which was arse-faced cocky woman the of the year. When I explained my problems she said "Well, you're not a regular then are you? You should know this anyway". Nice one.
Metrolink. Stealing a living.
