It wasn’t played in desert conditions on a pitch that had been plowed, to be fair, but it had more tempo for sure.

Mostly seemed training ground pace, but hot and sweaty over there. Difficult to tell the standard, but Leon should had done better. Red Diamonds winner scored by a bloke who used to play for Ross County. Three seasons there for Alex Schalk came on as a sub and he could have had another when through 1 on 1 with the keeper, but keeper recovered.
Hopefully Pep has seen enough to ease past them.

That was a pre-season game for Urawa ahead of the J.League kicking off for the very first time.
Loads of investment going on in the Japanese scene then with plenty of European and South American has-beens (Lineker etc) involved. A bit like Saudi today on a slightly less dramatic scale.

Hardly surprising as the best New Zealand sides play in the Australian A League.

Only Wellington I think. (Only pro club). Auckland play in the Northern league, I saw them at Napier in 2018. Absolute woeful
