That’s one way of looking at it,:) the other is Ukraine uses Starlink in the battlefield so if it’s destroyed by Iran then communication/ coordination will be wiped out.

I don’t know if America/Israel use it. I think Elon owns it he won’t be happy :(

It’s been known for decades that A10s are sitting ducks in contested territory. I remember reading this during the early Ukraine war coverage. The US troops in the Middle East loved them because they gave close air support but they’re slow, ancient and despite being better protected than most aircraft they not hard to shoot down. So they only operate when there’s no risk.

IMO that’s the most interesting thing about the a10 being shot down (rumours coming out that it was 2 now) - Hegseth/Trump obviously ordered them to fly where they weren’t safe to.

Which suggests either they believe their own bullshit about Iran having no air defences, their intelligence is awful, or Hegseth knew it was bullshit but wanted the cool planes to fly and anyone who would have told him no got fired.

This isnt a personal attack, just curious, and only quoting your post because its the first post in thread in support of the war (there could be further posts) - do you still feel the same now as you did when you posted that after Trumps comments on targeting civilian infrastructure and 'bombing them back to stone age'?
 
I'm a bit intrigued about this French tanker thats gone through the Strait of Hormuz.

Was a toll paid? Or just that France isnt seen as supportive of USA and Israel as others.

The reality is that, because of Donald Trump, countries are going to have to do business with Iran going forward. He has empowered them.

He’s absolutely fucking blown it, the stupid fucking ****.

That is exactly what the worry was with Putin and the Ukraine, the thing is, I don’t think Putin is as unpredictably insane as Trump is. He’s a complete and utter **** and war criminal but he’s not lost control of his emotions like Trump.

Either Trump completely pulls out or this is going to get very ugly.

Every aircraft is a sitting duck in contested territory, particularily performimg tasks A-10 was designed to do, CAS being the main one after CCCP collapsed, so anti-tank role became redundant.

What I read about it in a few books, there is no other aircraft nearly capable to perform the roles A-10 has been doing while being on the recieving end of all sorts of AA. But USAF generals like flast jets costing > 100 mil per unit. They would use F-35 that has operaring cost 7x that of an A-10 for operations of high risk profile.
