I have flight tickets to Beirut for August (for a wedding). Read the IAEA's own reports, this is not a country that is being misunderstood. US intelligence assess whether they were close to building a nuclear bomb but the assessment was clear that they were attempting to build one, that is my point.

I'm not justifying any war, I'm justifying the need for continued caution and suspicion of the Iranian state although that largely matters much less now given its potential capabilities have been effectively obliterated.

It's completely foolish to argue whether they were close to making a nuclear bomb or not, the only fact is they were trying to make one and for all we know they would be prepared to use it, or at least use it as a blackmail tool. Once they do acquire a nuclear bomb then it's too late isn't it?

Why are you posting things from 2021 when Trump ripped up the JPCOA in 2018?


You wanted them to stick to their side of the treaty and keep letting inspectors in when the US tore up the treaty and imposed a ton of sanctions on them despite them following the terms asked of them?

The only thing the US had to do to keep nuclear weapons away from Iran was stick to the treaty they signed.

And the only thing they had to do in January was accept the proposed surrender of HEU that was on the table and verified by 2 third parties to the negotiations.

Your bullshit doesn’t wash.

Pakistan, which mediated the deal, said the two-week pause in fighting would extend to Lebanon.

Israel denies it. Either way, it isn't helping, and I agree with your last sentence completely.

Iran and Kuwait have both reported strikes today.

Ceasefire is not off to a good start, but as the strait isn’t moving yet, and the ceasefire is supposed to start when it opens so maybe they’re just getting in their parting shots before the ships start moving.
