US & Israel attack Iran

I never thought I'd see the day our right wing media beg and plead with the government to allow migrants fleeing war from the middle east into our country without fail.

Oh wait they are all rich, white tax dodging people who are affected....

Silly me.
If they have British passports there's nothing to stop them. If they want repatriation at the taxpayers expense they should be asked for a contribution.

However you should have some personal responsibility. And some decisions you make might make your passport and citizenship irrelevant.
Yep, I agree. Ideally people who emigrate should change passports to their "new" country. Presumably the emigrants don't want to live and pay taxes in the UK anymore but want the comfort blanket of being British. Lots of cakeism going on but really up to the government to change it.

Air defence is somewhat automated, and there was a big ongoing drone attack, so it's quite easy for the planes to be deemed targets by mistake, a costly mistake.
It may seem naive but can’t these 90 million pound jets send a friendly signal to all allies to signify their status including to air defence forces in Kuwait?

If the whole area is declared a no-go zone and is an "active" war area then fine-that is not the case at present for the likes of the UAE and Qatar . If it is a case of people who live there deciding they want to come home for a while then I see that no different than them coming home for a holiday and self funding.
The difference is, there are no flights for them to "come home on holiday".

Lots of mental gymnastics going on over the past couple of days. We want Arabs to be free to do what they want in Gaza, we don't want Iranians to do what they want in Iran. We support Hamas, we support the IRGC, it's laughable.

It'll never be anything like Vietnam (or Iraq / Afghanistan), as there won't be any ground troops.
Agreed. I'm retired now and like watching all the World War 1 and 2 series. World War 1 was a mess because the Generals on both sides could not grasp that weapons and tactics had changed. Hence they sent millions of men to attack machine guns at a very leisurely pace. Most of us thought Israel v Gaza would be house to house fighting, it wasn't. On a military level it will be interesting how modern warfare has developed (or sunk depending on your view).

My point really was around the missile attacks in the gulf cities and not what happens on the ground.

I draw comparison to Vietnam because of how it is decentralised. The ground is irrelevant to the fight as a whole as that will wholly depend upon the Iranian people. In fact what happens in Tehran itself is irrelevant because there is no Iranian military command there anymore.

Iran has tens of thousands of drones and they can launch them from anywhere and the country is as large as Europe. So far the damage is limited because most are intercepted but what happens when for example the UAE runs out of missile interceptor stocks?

Yes.
Are you saying that Iran should have them?

Just playing devil's advocate.
It's ok for the West to have them but not the Middle East because the West says so. You can see why the Middle East dont like the West, what's ok for the West isnt ok for the Middle East.

It's all over religion and oil.

In an idea world they wouldn't be needed.
