I better stock up on beans and shit roll then...
Once the Berlin Wall came down and the Soviet Union dissolved, NATO should've disbanded. It was a mistake to keep on growing it and push it right up to Russia's borders. Putin didn't come about accidentally, he was created. Instead of working to properly integrate Russia into Europe, the US kept its cold war mentality because as the global hegemon it always needs perceived threats. Now Europe pays the price.
I'm sure the big European countries have already got the message loud and clear that they need to start cutting the tether to the US, but whether or not that can happen without putting Ukraine at risk amidst a war is another question.
Modi will be happy his mate is talking with his "enemy"...
Smotrich is the equivalent of the Chancellor. These are not minor, rogue politicians.
Imagine Rachel Reeves doing a press conference about her vision for invading Ireland, Iceland, Belgium the Netherlands and Normandy.
They had been sanctioned since 1979 by us and the US, freezing them of their US$14 billion (which in today’s finance is in hundreds of billions). It becomes a structural cost that’s why it matters and it’s also illegal, £2m today, what is to stop it going to £3m next year or £50m? The goodwill of Iran?
You may have noticed how the government has been saying how damaging this war is being to, and will be for a long time, to our economy. That is with non-structural costs - ie you weather the storm Looked at it a different way people losing £200m of spending power is equivalent to what 5000 jobs (I appreciate it’s not solely the individual and some/much of it it will be borne by companies) - the point is it matters.
Does the US bear the brunt of the blame for all of this? Absolutely. However that does not free Iran from their obligations under international law. Closing the Strait during the war? Hell yeah, well done them. Charging a toll for safe passage of civilian vessels? Absolutely not.
I truly don't understand the positions India takes sometimes either.
I mean I've traveled extensively and I get there's a whole documented history of slaughters in Asia committed basically in the name of religious conversion or death so they're not friendly with Pakistan..
But Israel's not really any better is it by seeing what's going on in Gaza and now Lebanon?
So why be on their side?
Sorry mate. It’s the Halliborange.STFU you senile orange ****.
Oh poor poor Iran. You make it sound like they're the victims. IRGC is a death cult hell bent on destroying the holy land. To defend their ideology or their actions is lame. They've done more than just "tax" ships, they harrass ships, they act like bullies. Did you see their latest press release? They've placed mines in parts of the strait near Oman in order to re-direct ships closer to their side of the strait. Iran's actions are problematic, and I think it's wretched for you or anyone else to pass the blame on to Israel, the country who's been on the receiving end of IRGC's belligerent aggression. Lets not forget that before the revolution, Iran was a country who was allied with Israel, who did business with Israel. You had a complete take over of a country turning them from a force of relative good under the Shah to a state of anarchy, warring and scheming against the West. This is not a regime to defend, on the other hand, our allies are worth defending. They had been sanctioned since 1979 by us and the US, freezing them of their US$14 billion (which in today’s finance is in hundreds of billions).
Yet they didn’t go rogue and strangle Hormuz. They followed international policies. Hormuz had been free passage for close to 50 years. They had the opportunity geographically, but they didn’t take it.
In contrast, all other straits, canals and passages had tolls for decades and centuries even.
The extent to which they are seen as a pariah state is directly tied to IRGC's negative influence throughout the region. It's hard not to be seen as a pariah state when you have wars on multiple fronts on your borders and you have to fight each of them often simultaneously. What Israel's been put through by Iran is all part of an agenda to create chaos for them, to create wars for them to fight, which they have to fight, then for that to be spun as if Israel is the warring party. It's a sick game IRGC has played and now they must pay for their abhorrent actions against the Holy Land.Israel leave out and stick to the pariah state that they are increasingly becoming. They’re the chaos monger of the middle east. Once they grow out of their superiority complex, which is a big ask what with their quest for a Greater Israel and Third Temple to fulfill their prophecy of God’s most chosen people, then there’s a possibility.
Don’t you just hate it when cunts act like bullies.Oh poor poor Iran. You make it sound like they're the victims. IRGC is a death cult hell bent on destroying the holy land. To defend their ideology or their actions is lame. They've done more than just "tax" ships, they harrass ships, they act like bullies.
Bibi doing his best to sabotage this ceasefire.
I'm a lot more pro-Israel than most on here, I support Israel as a state and its right to defend itself, and its right to take out the terrorists on its borders but Netanyahu is a fucking psychopath who needs to be stopped. The guy has lost the plot.
He is destroying the reputation of his own country and stoking not just anti-Israeli sentiment around the world, but that's bled significantly into antisemitism around the world.
They need to kick this prick out at the next election which is looming.
So why do you think the USA is fast becoming a pariah state too?Oh poor poor Iran. You make it sound like they're the victims. IRGC is a death cult hell bent on destroying the holy land. Not if Mossad has a load of dirt on Trump, in which case it will be latter who will bend and twist to save himself. If he goes against Trump (carries on attacking Lebanon and sabotaging the ceasefire) then politically he will be fucked. He needs Trumps support in the upcoming elections.
So why do you think the USA is fast becoming a pariah state too?
How can one poster get so much wrong. Israel has been killing and uprooting Palestinians since it's inception. That's why there are millions of Palestinians living in refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan. Forced out in 1948. Those that stayed have for an awful long time have been living under occupation.Oh poor poor Iran. You make it sound like they're the victims. We should have a word with the French about this. God knows we could do with the readies.Iran schooling the Sky news presenter on basic territorial waters geography, and “international waters” being open for shipping. The Straight of Hormuz is approx 21 to 24 miles wide at its narrowest point, between Oman and Iran.
It is deep enough for large oil tankers, with shipping lanes structured into two 2-mile-wide lanes (one inbound, one outbound) separated by a 2-mile buffer zone
Iran and Oman have 12 miles each that’s two miles in and two miles out. None of it is in International waters so Iran can legally charge a fee, it’s not going back to the way it was before “thanks Trump for nothing Iran has to pay for the damage to infrastructure somehow.
Israel and America war has consequences.
