The big attack is coming, if only because Netanyahu will drag us back into the conflagration. Whether or not USA and/or Israel go nuclear in the next round, I would expect Iran to launch a massive response obliterating UAE, Saudi, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar. A gazillion missiles and drones launched against Israel, as well. Energy infrastructure there along with the five nuclear sites and all of their desalination plants. Iran has something its neighbors don't - namely, actual water. Only 3% of its water needs are supplied by desalination, unlike Israel (80%), UAE (42%), Qatar (61%), Bahrain (59%), Kuwait (47%) and the outlier Saudi Arabia (18%). Life cannot be lived without water.

I expect this as well, they go for the water and the people on those countries really suffer. They can take out Irans electric etc but you can live in the dark you can’t live without water.

It's the Achilles Heel for those countries. And what happens when Israel's nuclear sites are hit? The fallout from that will be quite literal.

Doesn't this ignore the fact that Iran already have a major ongoing, and long-standing water crisis on their hands ?

No, I don't think so. My point that Iran has virtually no dependence on desalination while its neighbors (with an exception of Saudi) all do, which is why destruction of those facilities is a hammer blow waiting to be struck.

Thanks for the link to the article, which I think is quite good. I would note, however, that fresh water supply is a massive and widespread problem. I spent 45 years in Northern California, a state which is in the infancy of a 500 year drought. The situation there, and in many other states, is far worse than in Iran.

I thought he was essentially was saying any rules of engagement were a bit meh.

Trump has his own morality, Hegseth is amoral.
 
Probably yet another statement of what he would like to be happening rather than what will at best and at worst, another chance to make some trades for his mates as he manipulates the markets.
