US Politics Thread

Seen people on my Facebook saying they wish we had a Trump over here, guess what they hashtag was migrants, I pointed out he’s a rapist and convicted criminal they laughed it off. Said they’d vote for anyone who looked after their own, we have 5 years to stop what’s happening in America here, Labour need to get ahead of this, I do think the DEI stuff has gone so far that people are sick to the back teeth of it, the migrant issue needs to be turned around to show legal sustainable immigration is needed, because if they don’t, a Trump style thing could happen here.

Just looked at the popular vote figures for the election. Only 2 million in it. But add the votes of the other candidates it’s about 2 million too. So half of the population didn’t want him either. Totally divided country. God help them!

I presume the US has a monthly inflation figure (also presumably with a breadbasket of item costs). I wonder when the basic economic rising costs will start to show up in the figures, with the new immigration and tariff policies. March figures (ie April time)?

When economies start hurting the common people, fascist dictators usually go for a major distraction. General Galteri of Argentina in 1982 springs to mind, as does Saddam Hussein in 1990. I’m sure others can supply even more pertinent examples from 20th century history…

When in trouble , invade… hence why the ramped up rhetoric regarding Panama, Greenland and even Canada is ‘slightly’ disconcerting to any people with democracy leaning tendencies.

The drastic economic measures may not be a failure. Opinion on them seems to be divided upon partisan lines although I think there are some clear issues and second order effects with tariffs.
It may end up being an overall resounding success - even Hitler had an 'economic miracle'.

They shouldn’t be allowed to pardon anyone, what’s the pint of the courts if you can, whether Trump or Biden or any other presidents it’s a dictator ship if you do that.
I agree but there seems to be a need to protect people from vengeful politics too.

Maybe when Trump's culture of fear ends decency in politics can return but I wonder how far into the future that'll be.

You let the law take care of it, no one should be above the law and that includes the president, but it seems he’s got away with that as well.

Fair enough. But I can’t unplug. Sadly my every day job means I need to objectively figure out how all his volatile and in some cases extreme comments regarding policy will impact the day to day lives of the companies I work with. One of his appointees, for example, has regularly, publicly lambasted one of the companies with whom I work when he was in private life, and now that he’s in a position to directly impact them in his new role, I have to gauge what will happen. Under any normal HOS, regardless of party, policy is crafted, not randomly spewed out by a man who seems like he couldn’t care less what the consequences are. I already told reporters looking for insight that I’d politely decline to comment until after inauguration as to how his potential policies might impact the companies for whom I’m responsible. Now I have to deal with his mouth every day in real time, trying to follow the bouncing ball, with clients on both sides running around in a near-panic. So he makes my job shittier, which makes my life shittier, regardless of what I think, or how his supporters act.
I sometimes think there must be a madness virus which survives by sufferers' trying to make others mad. "I'm crazy so why shouldn't you be?"

I can only assume you’ve given yourself a thread ban, or worse, for the litany of unholy names you spewed at me.

I got banned for daring to say the IDF bombed a place because Hamas was firing at them from that location. Outrage, of course, because it was reported as a hospital! It wasn’t, it was a parking lot and the hospital was hit by a misfired rocket from Hamas.

NO-ONE GAVE A FUCK! BAN STAYED, even though I was spot on!!

Now, you are on here claiming exalted status, while calling me some serious names???

And, then you have the gall to post about hypocrisy?

Physician heal thyself
Feel free to show me examples of these names.

The law should be relied upon to be fair, consistent and equal but it just doesn't seem to be in the US (maybe everywhere).

It's easy for us though when we aren't the targets of the powerful and spiteful.

Trump caused this shit atmosphere. Because he is an utter ****.
