I forget who said it, but one needs to be very careful not to make heroic that which is in reality the bare minimum expected, otherwise the middling among us become revered, whilst the worst are made to look—by comparison—more credible. All the while, those making actual sacrifices to realise great change are made to seem mundane.

Reminder: the goal of Trump, Putin, and their cohorts is not to make you question truth; the goal is to destroy truth itself.
