Think she might have a point. It was BLM entryists in the Proud Boys...

That seems an uncharacteristically silly defence of billionaires' spending patterns.

People building mansions could have been building social housing out of higher taxes on billionaires.

What's wrong with inflaming a sense of injustice about wealth distribution? Wealth inequities are unjust.
My point is he doesn’t need to bring those particular examples into the mix to be supportive of unionization efforts. Wealth is a zero sum game, and were I him, I’d be discussing the ratio between CEO COMPENSATION and that of these hourly workers (a ratio now required to be disclosed in SEC filings by the way).

The tax paid by US billionaires is minuscule compared to what would be fair (they pay a lower percentage than middle income families for a start). Same for many US companies on their profits.

Bernie wouldn’t even be classed as particularly left wing in the U.K.
He would not. But lower taxes on corporate earnings mean higher stock prices and higher stock prices for public companies mean more wealth for any who own stock, including employees.

The argument that resounds most (to me) is the ratio of compensation between CEOs and the average employee, not “Bezos has a big boat”, though I understand why such a comment has power.

The top 10% hold 86% of US equities (of which the majority is held by the top 1% overall) so I don’t think that’s the best argument in favour of lower corporation tax, especially when a cancer diagnosis means bankruptcy for millions.

I’m hardly a communist but the US’s wealth inequality and (real) tax rate on highest earners is beyond a joke.

It's those disparities that help make people billionaires.

And research suggests that societies without great disparity of wealth are happier societies. That's partly just a function of less poverty = better health.

Except Bezos isn't CEO anymore and the vast majority of his wealth came from his sales of his shares or dividends so what's the immediate relevance?
