US Politics Thread

To merge a couple of topics slightly, has anyone else been tracking the Alex Jones/Info Wars saga?

Alex Jones is/was the owner and face of a media company called Info wars which is basically another one of these extreme Right-wing bullshit spewing 'truth-sayer' type media outlets. Jones did a regular podcast which covered all sorts of nonsense.

In one particular episode of the Infowars podcast, Jones claimed the Sandy Hook massacre (where 26 people were shot and killed, including 20 children) was a hoax, and that the parents of the 'so-called deceased' children were 'crisis actors'. Long story sort, the parents sued him and after numerous smaller payouts, Jones was ordered to pay out $965 million, and essentially had to sell Infowars to cover it.

Fast forward to last week - Infowars was auctioned off, and Jones was hoping that one of his rich, Right-wing chums would step in and buy it and continue to employ him as presenter. But hilariously, The Onion (Wiki) stepped in and bought it fair and square. Elmo has now stepped in and taken up the fight:

This is definitely one of those 'watch this space' moments...

Biden should step down and allow Harris to be President for a month.

He looked absolutely fucked on TV just now.
If biden can find a way of quickly bringing about a direct confrontation between Russia and NATO then as the sitting president at a time of war then I think he stays and trump can't be inaugurated.

I know Trump is highly likely to fuck things right up, but an all out NATO conflict with Russia? I'd rather take my chances with Tango Mussolini.

How do you guys feel about an influx of Americans who may have to bug out if they start jailing people like they say they will? On one hand I get it that the rest of the world sees us as a cocky, boorish group but I guarantee you those are the ones who will be staying. Personally I think getting an influx of highly educated people who believe in social justice and democracy would be a net gain for any countries we move to.

As it stands we've looked at Canada and Ireland so far. I could see Canada just being a stopover for lots of people before moving on.
