Do you use firefox ? if teh installer you downloaded is still listed in the "download" box in firefox right click it and go to the page you downloaded it from, post us this url.

You could have opened a .pdf or similar that had some code embeded in it, what was the torrent and did you scan it well if it was from a public source ?
Chrome mate and no I didn't scan anything I'm a complete internet idiot and wouldn't know how to!

Did you get utorrent from the utorrent site itself or from a third party site ?
Not sure mate, if I remember rightly I think I got directed to the actual utorrent site.

Uninstall it and use this instead <a class="postlink" href="http://www.bitcomet.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bitcomet.com/</a>

Use <a class="postlink" href="http://torrentz.eu/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://torrentz.eu/</a> for finding your stuff. Works perfect for me :-)
Thanks mate, much appreciated.

I use this and it won't let me get stuff over about 2gig...anyone know why please?

Cheers

What error does it give you ?

@Gaz, run malwarebytes and see what it gets. For .pdf's etc you get from public sites i would suggest scanning them with <a class="postlink" href="https://www.virustotal.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">https://www.virustotal.com/</a> if you are reluctant to install virus scanners etc.

Tell us what results you get.

Will do mate and thanks

Sounds like you may have been fucked over by a virus, always check what you download and only do it off trusted sites. To get rid if it is a virus try a system restore too the point before you downloaded it.

What operating system are you using?

Bit of advice needed if anyone can help please.

Basically I downloaded utorrent a couple of days ago in order to download a few ebooks.
I now have my laptop freezing to the extent I have to remove the battery just so I can restart it, adverts popping up everywhere and random words in text I'm reading are blue and when I move the curser over them more fucking adverts pop up.

Now I don't know if this is coincidence with me downloading utorrent but I would really appreciate any advice on how to get rid of all these ads and help on how to stop it freezing.

Thanks in advance.
Exactly the same for me mate I just try and ignore it but can get pretty annoying.

Not always true.......

If you have a virus, when you do a system restore, the virus infects that point too, so it remains on your system and infects everything there too.

Don't want to sound all geeky, but remember reading that on the computer active forum
