He was massive (sniff) back in the seventies; had his own prime time TV show on saturday nights on the Beeb (didn't the B&W Minstrels appear regularly on the show?). He made Pringle sweaters and cardies the thing to be seen in. Cheesy as a cheese sandwich with extra cheese, but the mums and dads loved him.

Although, he did seem to be a genuinely decent fella - which it transpires was a bit of a rarity, back in the day. (Talented water colourist too, which not many people know).
