Gone to sing on the great rocking chair in the sky
Under 40? Google him, one of the first superstars of the 60s

Paddy mcgintys goat and raffertys motor car are worth a listen for a laugh.
Sad day, my late Mum and Dad loved him.

He was massive (sniff) back in the seventies; had his own prime time TV show on saturday nights on the Beeb (didn't the B&W Minstrels appear regularly on the show?). He made Pringle sweaters and cardies the thing to be seen in. Cheesy as a cheese sandwich with extra cheese, but the mums and dads loved him.

That's about the size of it.
Although, he did seem to be a genuinely decent fella - which it transpires was a bit of a rarity, back in the day. (Talented water colourist too, which not many people know).

If I knew how, I'd post his version of "The Special Years" which is a pretty little song.

Wasn't he one of the richest men in Ireland as well? Believe he invested his earnings wisely mostly in land and property....and cashmere sweaters
