Vanishing spray

Who keeps hold of the spray during a match.is it the linesman or the 4 th official.

Its held by the ref mate on his back waist high in a little clip. !
What if he falls onto it, could be a bit painful.

Indeed but there ya go, did you not see any World Cup games? Refs there were using it lots and all had it on the back.

Hopefully the referees will start to caution for encroachment next season. Can anyone remember the last time you saw someone cautioned for this? Even in the World Cup there were a couple of instances of the players encroaching the white line without any action taken. Think it is a good idea as long as the referees have the bottle to follow through with the correct action.

Fuck me they have actually done something for the betterment of the game. Once that line is drawn no encroaching. Just hope pitches are marked out with horizontal stripes in the grass at 6 or 5 yard intervals to help as well.

You mean like this mate? (City vs West Ham, last game of season). I noticed around November last year that we are now cutting the stripes exactly 5 yards wide. I noticed this in November last year when someone's wall didn't go back. (Yes I'm a sad git).

I also use it to estimate how far out Yaya and Kolarov are attempting free kicks from.
Good for people in 2nd and 3rd tiers sat at the sides but I doubt that they can see it too easily on the pitch.

The Premier League have confirmed that they will be using the shaving foam in the league this season. Yaya and Kolarov will be very happy about that!
Only really works if the ref has got the bottle to actually pace out 10 yards before spraying the line. Some of the refs in the World Cup just seemed to spray a line where the wall was standing irrespective of whether or not they were 10 yards away

It can only be a matter of time before Sky start showing a graphic measuring the distance

Cant not see it lasting long.

The first sensible decision the Premier League has made in a very long time.
Do you think it will make up for the debacle of that season. Presenting City with the trophy when Liverpool clearly won it

OK come on, who sprayed Liverpool's trophy with vanishing spray?

Why do they spray it in a straight line if it's supposed to be 10yds away from the ball?
The easy way out, I suppose. You go out into your back garden with your can of shaving foam and try drawing an arc that stays 10 yards (subject to small fluctuations) away form your starting point, where the ball would be placed. I wouldn't even try as it would look like a dog's dinner when I'd finished.
Also, pre-spray, I don't recall any players having the intelligence to realise that their wall could be an arc, so it's not like it actually matters!

They should attach a retractable tape/line 10 yards long to each can with a peg on the end.. You'd get an arc then.
