Refs won’t give decisions to City & have the safety net of VAR, if it’s clear & obvious it will be over turned but they never are.

Refs give decisions to Dippers & if it’s a clear & obvious mistake VAR will over turn but they never do.

Once again the crooks win, but we’ll still win the title, they just delay the obvious.

I'm confused, if that is the case how is VAR working?

It is rather telling that the comment from Kilbane just about sums up the use of VAR in the PL - if the ref doesn't give that pen, then it won't be given by VAR! So we have pen after pen after pen, some absolutely blatant that the ref doesn't give, and then the non-giving is confirmed by VAR. Down at Anfield the ref gives the pen and then VAR confirms! Never has any sport managed to develop a system of arbitration that has much the same reward as a fuckin' National Lottery ticket!

Big difference is, rugby fans accepted VAR, can have a beer in the stands, mingle with opposition fans and enjoy the sport without crying corruption at every point - I’m sure it took a few years to get VAR in Rugby right, fans have allowed it to progress. It’s been bought in for Tennis, Rugby - but fans that have been screaming corruption for years and years don’t want it to be bought into football ? The mind boggles.

Rugby fans don’t cry corruption because everything is done in the open, everything is clearly explained, and everyone can see and hear what’s going on. If football in the PL and uefa was done in the same way it would be less likely to be as corrupt as it clearly is. Tbh if you think it isn’t corrupt, that uefa/PL don’t favour certain clubs, then you are incredibly naive.

Why does an error need to be clear and obvious?
Surely if the ref makes an error, if it can be, it should be over-ruled to get to the correct decision.
Isn’t that what fans want?

It's quite funny that most of them are clear and obvious to everyone watching, except the referee and the VAR team.

How can Shearer and MOTD do exactly the same exercise as the VAR and end up with a different conclusion?

The answer is it's interpretation. Just leave that stuff to the on-field referee in real-time.

VAR’s use in football is a complete joke. Not a single penalty decision (in 53 times it’s been used) has changed the decision. There’s literally no point in it other than for offsides in its current incarnation.

exactly, VAR is used totally different in other sports ( or what ever the name is of video assistance in other sports )
