Every team benefits from a wrong decision now and then, that's normal. We have on a number of occasions. So too have the rest of the Prem regulars. However, only one team benefits consistently - and always has done - and that is the rags.
Every game it seems the more important the outcome the more leniently they will be treated. A run of the mill dead rubber at the end of the season, you'll see nothing to raise suspicions. But if it's an important game in which they absolutely must win, just watch how many controversial decisions will go their way in order to ensure that win.
Every other club in the Premier League is being treated as a supporting act for the main turn of the evening, the rags.
Us and the rest are the warm-up acts, we exist solely to step aside from the spotlight and allow the vermin to enjoy all the glory and the adulation.
Each game that poisonous bastard club play the opposition will be trooping off the pitch at the end of the game, feeling immensely hard done by because once again, the rags have been assisted in some way or other by the officials.
As I said at the beginning, if one team gets the benefit of the doubt during a game, the ref doesn't see a handball in the area, or a deliberate two-footed tackle that should have resulted in an instant red card, you just shrug your shoulders and say, 'Ah well. It happens.' But if that one team is the SAME team...game in, game out, the rat you're smelling is not just the one sitting beside Spitty in the studio.
