VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

Re Arsenal sending off. He just went to leg him up as per the usual tactical foul but unfortunately he ended up with his studs against his ankle. I’m sure he didn’t mean to do that, but because it was definitely a deliberate foul and studs in ankle, he had to go. Harsh, but if he hadn’t deliberately tried to foul him he wouldn’t have been sent off
It was never a red. The Wolves player who was sent off for 2 bookable offences, his 2nd was worse. Total joke decision.

What's the latest on SAOT being used in the Premier League? They were supposed to implement it during the season but it's since gone very, very quiet on that front.

Do we get an announcement in the near future that the system will be used from the start of the 25/26 season or are they backtracking and prefer to decide tight offsides by drawing lines?

This issue is the premier league have signed a sponsorship contract with a ball company with inferior technology. Only adidas balls can work how the champions league and world cup works. So basically it comes down to cash that the premier league doesn't want to spend.

I've always thought that footage should be used to review games and apply retrospective sanctions for cheating. I know it's not possible for the matchday officials to spot everything but for example the number of times I've seen Haaland blatantly fouled for corners is ridiculous. The prospect of cheating defenders being banned for the next game or two might focus some minds.

It was very soft the red but I can see why it was given,no intention of going for the ball and catches the player, someone posted about the scything down of players in games when teams break regardless where abouts on the pitch it is and there should be more red cards for situations like that ..

Good in principle but they’d manipulate it somehow for certain games/teams ..

The studs are why it's a red for me.

The ridiculous thing is it'll probably be overturned because of the amount of engagement it's getting rather than the challenge itself.

They are using their own system rather than the official one. It won't be introduced until it can recognise club badges and determine offside calls accordingly.

Agree. I’ve hit caught up with yesterday’s games after watching ours.

Never a red in a million years, however it that get any kind of red before they play us I’m alright with that.

No the one everyone is talking about. The Arsenal player who was sent off.
It wasn't a last man situation and they have now come out with violent conduct. Bollocks.
It was an appalling decision that Var should have intervened on but they didn't. They sat there eating cream cakes and reading the Beano annual.

Where are the Var apologists who are desperate to tell us over and over again that it's a great system.
They never post first.

Err… get rid of VAR and we’d of had that decision still stand and vastly more decisions like that back in the game.
You lot cried that VAR is interfering in the game to much - yet when a ref has a clear view and makes a decision you want VAR to intervene- make your mind up.

Also, on this incident others can justify why it was red , you ever think you might just be wrong sometimes ?

just seen the Arsenal red card . Its clear they want Liverpool as champions.
LMFAO, what happened to the red cartel? I can fukin guarantee there will be endless claims of rag bias on here later, why bother?
Every decision regardless of who it's for or against is now allegedly concrete confirmation of corruption-laughable.
A Blue claiming Tarquins have been hard done to, I've seen it all now.
If it's that obviously corrupt why do you watch? I'm sure I wouldn't.

It’s a shame RAWK have stopped outsiders looking at their general forum. The one for us makes the bias allegations on here look like fluffy little fairies floating through a meadow. It’s full on anti-Liverpool, pro City allegations on there from the papers to the refs.

"They never post first", no, the posters frothing at the mouth will always post first. Why post first to say that VAR just did their job correctly?

He tried to trip him but badly mistimed it, raked his studs down his shin and stamped on his foot. It ended up being a dangerous foul that endangered an opposition player, that's a red card all day long.

It's also got Captain Black crying again so there's a silver lining as well.

I thought that was a good decision. Everyone says those are standard yellow cards but it was so blatant. The ball was gone before he even started to kick the player.

For me I'm OK with that red. Too much tripping in the game, ourselves included. If it's that blatant then should be a red.

I did not know this, that has got to be the ultimate version of living in an echo chamber! The moderators should be charged with radicalization and I'm only half joking!

I noticed it last week but thought it was kike when this one has maintenance done. Checked a few days later and still the same. You need to be registered. Annoying really as it used to give me a good laugh on their with their wacky theories

I’ve not seen it - and don’t need to. We can only hope we follow the path of the enlightened Norwegians:

You are seeing a totally different foul than I am.
If that had been a City player this thread would have exploded.
Forget Captain Black. He was sent off for Serious Foul Play.
Var basically backing their mate up. Thst is not what Var are meant to do. It's bent.

Edit: plus it's proved my point. No pro Var poster came on first to say, amidst all the controversy, Var was correct to not intervene.
